10KB Avatar?

I have tried to create an Avatar of 10KB using both this sites poster and Microsoft Paint to shrink an image to that size. I can get close to 10KB but never at it or lower.

What am I doing wrong or is the 10KB limit too small?

Try using Irfanview: http://www.irfanview.com/

Make sure you download the plugins as well.

Then use 'Save as' and you can set the file size on the Jpeg/Gif Save Options.

Notice also that you have not only a file size limit for your avatar but also one on the dimensions.
