Sounds indeed bad specialy on a adult forum but its harmless ... it stands for sub-forums.

Example: Classic Movies (parent forum) has 3 child/sub-forums: Movie/Movie ID requests, Loops/Old Stuff and Softcore/Classic Nude.

When you deselect the "Also search in child forums" option on the search page then you will only search the main Classic Movies forum, no longer its sub-forums, its a extra option to narrow down your search.
