[QUOTE=palo5;1557248]The cold stops the larvas becoming 'adult', so I'm told. But it doesn't kill them, unfortunately. They survive everything. Even -60C doesn't kill them

Yeah, it is surprising just what does survive the winter isn't it!

Lynx could be a danger for your pet dog if it's alone, but you should be OK

Lynx are a danger for sheep and things, but they are very shy, and will usually just run off into the woods if they see you. They very rarely attack people. That said, I have seen one just a few metres from my house! No dog here, but again that AAA battery might just come in useful!

Elk are not predators and are no threat. The "city elks" are curious juveniles who don't know better ' Ignore them

Actually elks can be surprisingly dangerous creatures! Especially if you happen to accidentally come across a mother and her calf, then she will be extremely aggressive, and at some 250 kg, she is a formidable threat! True, usually the biggest danger from them is if you hit one in your car, several people die here each year through collisions with elks! But they are not something to be taken too lightly my friend.

They're only dangerous if stupid humans disobey the laws of nature

They are indeed beautiful animals!

Some people do put themselves in harms way that is true, but out here I am surrounded by woods and nature, and it is quite easy to bump into elks here. Usually they will run off, but as mentioned earlier, if it's a mother and calf - watch out! you do not always see both of them 'til it is too late.

Fortunately, elks are very strong smelling and you can usually tell when there is one close by, so you can be on your guard.

PS. They are great to eat too! A bit like beef if cooked right.

Yeast extract, a by-product of beer.

tmee's right. We don't actually eat it. We just like to watch you guys try to
We generally have a far healthier diet

As for Aussie sheila's, some of the best in the world.

As to the lack of Aussie porn.
Why pay to watch, when you can be paid to participate?
I think the rest of the worlds female 'porn stars' feel a little threatend, as the expression 'to suck a golf ball through a garden hose' is just standard training for our outback girls who generally don't have adequate plumbing and have to siphon beer, water and fuel through various hoses.

Aussie girls are plentiful, talented down to earth and will bend over backwards to please you. .

Another brief word about our wildlife.
Never, under any circumstances, not even if he can prove he hasn't been drinking and takes a breathalyser test, Never let a dingo drive your car.

We have a lot of whelks over here, they are also good to eat.

They are very slow moving, so not dangerous, unless they've gone off

Blondiefan,

I gotta give it to you there mate, some of your Aussie 'Sheilas' are absolute ace!! Elle MacPherson and Nicole Kidman, should, IMHO, be on anyones 'I fancy that' list!!

One thingdoes puzzle me about Aussies though, if a guy has got red hair, you call him 'blue', where does that come from?? I am colour blind, but not that colour blind!

Why don't they just have a big sign, saying PISS OFF!

Stone Fish
Known as the most venomous fish in the world, the stone fish lives on the bottom of the reefs, camouflaged as a rock. It lives above the Tropic of Capricorn but can be found in the Queensland Great Barrier Reef as well. It’s venom comes from the dorsal area, that is lined with 13 spines, causing shock, paralysis and tissue death depending on the severity of the sting. First aid consists of immobilizing the venom by bandaging the affected area then applying a hot compress. The pain is said to be so excruciating that it can lead to amputating the affected limb.
