You've seen the cartoons right? Honestly, they make the most unholy noise you're ever likely to hear. They can also devour a carcass in next to no time, leaving just a stain on the ground. Probably devour the ground too if they're hungry enough Probably not a match for these though, back in the day. Tasmanian tigers were such a problem for farmers that a bounty was set on them, which effectively wiped out their population. Others believe that the Tasmanian Tiger survived the attempts at eradication and continues to exist in isolated groups in Tasmania's rugged bushland. Quote:

In beer production when the beer is drained from the vat it leaves a slimy residue of yeast and hops etc. It is then salted and coloured and sold as Vegemite.
Also we have survived the GFC and our dollar is the stongest its ever been compared to the $US. Real estate is at a premium,we are having a resource boom. Forget the deadly creatures, you can't afford us!! |

Maybe its the view
This is what I see out my window! The view to the North and the view to the East. I think this is a good reason to live in Oz for starters. It gets better as time goes by. Anyone wanting to join me is welcome, but a*sholes and troublemakers need not apply, sh#tstirrers are tolerated, just. As a foot note. Here in Tassie they have a little black ant about 1 cm long, looks like a midget bull ant, called a jack jumper, they call it a jack jumper because the little bastards jump. Well it ain't scared of anything and has damn good eyesight for a little ant, if disturbed and that can just be your shadow will cause the little shit to jump at you. That ain't the end of it, the bastards have a bite that would make an elephant whince. My poor old mum has been bitten three times and each time the reaction to the bite has been progressively gotten worse. The next time, a bite, will properably kill her, so we have to have anti-hystamine meds available on hand. Now the little shits have nests all over the place usually under flat rocks as it keeps the nests warm during the winter months, so gardening is risky, especially if you like rock gardens, and to really make life hard they love to wonder into your shed, on the varandah, and they turn up in the strangest places. Gram for gram the bastards are the most dangerous and toxic biters on the planet and that is a fact. Last edited by RjG57; April 20th, 2011 at 10:56 AM.. |

As for the Aussie$ being high it will only encourage more Kiwi's to our shores which is not too bad I guess, good for our sport codes at least. |

Great White sharks....
I believe that they have now made it illegal in Australia to swim with Great White Sharks without the protection of a shark cage? Don't know if it is illegal to get bitten by one of these buggers, but not to swim with them!
What you Aussies call the 'White Pointer', is supposedly too dangerous to be with outside of a cage. People wishing to research these amazing creatures have to go to South Africa to be sure of meeting one! A guy there called André Hartmann, has been swimming with them for years - without any form of protection other than his wits! He regularly takes interested people out to 'meet' them! The legendary Val Taylor even grabs them by the nose when she feeds them by hand!!! They do of course have Great Whites in the US as well, but they are not quite as large as their Australian cousins - or even their Mediteranean cousins either IIRC?? Magnificent creatures aren't they! Were gonna need a bigger boat!!!

Just for good measure I thought that I would post this picture of someone being 'friendly' with a Great White Shark - Actually, it is a 'Blue Pointer', 'cos this picture was taken in South Africa, and they call them 'blue pointer' there! The guy in the picture is Andre Hartman, who I mentioned above.
I've been fascinated by sharks for about 40 odd years now. Amazing creatures!
