Default Help needed - questions about DVD/VOB files

Hope I am posting this in correct place....
And hope these are not ridiculous questions.
While I have used mp4/avi/mpg and other video file formats before, I am not familiar with DVD/VOB files and could use some clarification. In the "Classic Movies" forum, when a member has posted a movie download link using DVD/VOB files, I notice after file extraction process you end up with several files. Typically something like "VTS 1.0" VOB, "VTS 1.1" VOB, and so on. Even though the file names are different, I see no difference between them (each file appears to contain the entire movie).
Question 1: Are these extracted VOB files supposed to be the same?
Question 2: If so, is there any harm in simply deleting all of the VOB files - and save just 1 of them? (To save disk space and confusion....)
My sincere thanks to anyone who can kindly reply...

From Wiki:
On the DVD, all the content for one title set is contiguous, but broken up into 1 GB VOB files in order to be compatible with all operating systems, as some cannot read files larger than that size. Each VOB file must be less than or equal to one GB.

I'd be surprised if each vob file had the same content, it may be your playback software starts at the first VOB file. Wouldn't recommend deleting any of them.

Which post are you referring to? I'll check it out when I can.

You need all of the files in order to play or rip an avi, mp4 from the VOB files so do not delete any files as each VOB file contains different sections of the original film.

Each VOB file will look the same with a video player because the player defaults to reading the the first TS_IFO file to find the beginning of the movie.

Default VOB file discussion, continued

BCFC - See:
http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...t=ball+busters

For starters, the 1fichier link (for the mkv version) is down, and the original post for the .avi version is long gone. So I tried using the K2S download links for the VOB files at very bottom instead. Thanks to you and Jenny48549, I now understand it a little better. But the bottom line is - the other file types (avi/mp4) use less disk space, and would rather deal with 1 avi or mp4 file than 5 or 6 VOB files. So now the question becomes - how does one convert all of these VOB files into 1 avi (or mp4) file? I do use a program called Wondershare video converter.... But no knowledge or experience with the VOB files. Again, any expertise or help appreciated.

(Also, Windows Media Player is all I have on this old PC for opening/playing these videos, regardless of what the file type is...)

Use VOBMerge252, he reconstitutes the movie automatically.
