They are using a new pitch at Edgbaston today. The tournament rule is simply that the ICC select and prepare the pitches - local groundsmen have no input.

The India v Bangladesh Semi was virtually a replay of the England v Pakistan one.
First team in off to a reasonable start. Lose some important wickets and get bogged down trying to set a defendable total. Second team in make mincemeat of the score and win quite comfortably. Bangladesh can still go home with their heads held high. |

There is a story going around (ok I make this up) that you could not buy a pint of milk or anything else besides at your corner shop on Wednesday since all the Pakistani owners were at the game
So forgetting any controversy about the pitch it was almost like a home game for them. Same could be said about today's final. Once again, Pakistan tear up the script and are worthy champions. Totally outplayed India and by some . Sweet revenge for the drubbing they got in the group game. |

I wonder what Odds Pakistan got?
They've always had fairly decent bowlers who seem to get let down by the fielders over and over Not since 1992 - Mickey Arthur in charge - how appropriate Champions Trophy final, The Oval Pakistan 338-4 (50 overs): Fakhar 114, Azhar 59, Hafeez 57* India 158 all out (30.3 overs): Pandya 76, Amir 3-16, Hasan 3-19 Pakistan won by 180 runs http://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/40321231 Biggest upset since India rolled the West indies in 1983 The historic records says this is the one tournament where Pakistan have a chance of beating India https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India%...CC_tournaments Last edited by buttsie; June 19th, 2017 at 01:28 AM.. Afganistan and Ireland are to be granted full test status. I wonder if the England short form captain will now be Irish again as he has no chance of getting in England test team.
