I did not like Beta and by 78 VHS won out. By 1984 VHS VCR's were as little as $100.

I still own four VHS vcr's. I now must buy a hi def unit that records DVD.

The worst is that my entire collection was removed from my bedroom while I was hospitalized for Phlebitis in 2000.

I even had an original copy of PB from 1954, the first issue, destroyed.

Dad later threw it all out, so all I have now is this place and Yahoo Groups.

Hef says he will sell all magazines on DVD for $300!

That is a good price. But Penthouse and Gallery and Mayfair are lost in time.

Other than that it was my dads magazine stash. The usual popular late 70's early 80's mags. I would sneak them away to look at them one at a time. In 1970, someone in my class posted a pl****y centerfold on the back of the toilet door in high school. I took it for my own.

In 1971 I attempted to buy a copy of PB and was turned down.

Back then most stores that sold magazines were owned and run by elderly Jewish men with Concentration Camp numbers on their right arms.

They also sold tobacco and candy and soda.

One old Jewish store owner was blind, so I bought both PB and Penthouse magazines from him in April 1972. I had wanted the March issue because it had a local girl from Queens who was on WCBS TV channel 2 NYC. They did an interview with her about her centerfold.

I began collecting new magazines and found a store in mid town Manhattan called Back Issues that sold used copies of many different kinds of magazines.

Today, I still find them at tag sales or at flea markets for cheap.

There are a few stores that sell such magazines in Manhattan and a man out in New Jersey has his house full of them for sale.
