I hope that does not happen. The total chaos that would ensue would have worldwide implications, but living in the States like I do it would not be safe...

Like Victor, I remember Miguel Ferrer best as Lloyd Henreid in The Stand. A charismatic actor as good guy or bad guy.

I was just watching the Night Flier a couple of hours ago and I was wondering what ever happened to Miguel Ferrer who was amazing in the role of Richard Dees and as I hadn't seen him in anything new in ages, I figured that I would wiki him, and I find to my horror that he died yesterday...very sad. Local coaching legend Sister Maria Pares died January 20 from complications from cancer. Sister Maria, who stood "5 foot 3, maybe" coached basketball at the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, Canisius College, Marquette University and St. Rose of Lima School. At Sacred Heart, Sister Maria had a record of 229-10, won 13 Monsignor Martin Assoc. championships, and had a 127 game winning streak. At Canisius, her Lady Griffs teams had a record of 108-39 and advanced to the 1983 NCAA Division II tournament.

A tenacious competitor, her teams dominated girl's basketball in the 1970's. Officials became worn out reffing her games and requested not to officiate them. Privately Sister Maria was known as "Attila the Nun."

After her stint at Marquette, Sister Maria returned to Buffalo and Sacred Heart, where the Sharks won 5 more MMA titles. After the 2015 season, Sister Maria was not retained by SHA and became an assistant coach at Villa Maria College.

Sister Maria is a member of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, the Canisius College Sports Hall of Fame, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Hall of Fame, the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame and the Sacred Heart Hall of Fame.

Sister Maria's passing is personal to my family as my three sisters are graduates of Sacred Heart and all had Sister Maria as their gym teacher. In addition, my middle sister was the student manager of the 1983 Canisius team.
