What is good about Forum and what could be better

You won't believe Me,But I agree with damp patch,I think this Forum is pretty damn good just the way it is.I wouldn't have the temerity to suggest changes in other sections but I believe GN&D and Funnies are as good as They could realistically be,I can't take any credit for this the good work was done before My arrival.If You have a problem in another section,You should take it up with the Mods concerned. You will just have to accept that some of Us don't have any problems with the Forum.

Good:

Lots of rare pics are scanned and upped.

'bad' or 'not quite they way I would do it, but still not actually Bad':

Some scans are rather small. You see a great thumb and click on it and it turns out to be as good as you thought it would be, but the pic is a bit too small.

Some scans have the scanning dots smaller than the photo dots, which make the photo dots appear quite large in the pic. eg. scanning a pic at 1200dpi to get a good big pic (yay!) but this means the the colour dots in the original photo are rather large.

I personally, would scan at say 200-300 dpi but have the scanner enlarge the pic (and have 'descreen' selected) and then save to pc and then in a photo editing program shrink the pic to a decent size. This worked really well with a pic I scanned of a naked anthea turner from her autobiography which I bought for £1.

I haven't actually tried scanning a pic at 1200dpi and then shrinking down. Maybe that would makes the photo dots disappear?

Sometimes there are posts which I don't think encourage noobs or would-be posters to post.

I'll prolly get into trouble for this, but this thread was set up by soemone who wanted to know what other members think about the forum and what is good or bad about it, and doesn't say whet He/She thinks in order to not influence anything, and what happens? Various mambers get the hump and decide that asking such a question means the questioner was trying to complain about the place.

He/She is told to either like the place or bog off.

I don't believe that asking if members have likes/dislikes about a forum is just complaining about nothing. It's just a question by someone who is curious about people's opinions.

If you have REAL ideas that will improve the forum and not just personal wants
send a PM to an Admin or Moderator in the relevant section and leave it at that.

On another forum they have a thread what would you change if you were the Administrator
and 99% of it is little more than a personal wishlist which doesnt add anything but more work for those behind the scenes to do.

Too many topics where change might occur have members firmly at polar opposites because they use the forum differently.

That is important I reckon, because many of the fast responses seemed to assume it was a derogatory post - and I don't think it was.



For the life of me, I can see very...VERY...little that I would want to change, or alter.

But I think it was a genuine question, proposed in good faith.....and personally I would like to see some suggestions......if any exist.

Rather than have people circling overhead, waiting to pounce on any
suggestion.

For myself, I think that this forum is the bee's knees.
It's segregation and division is clear. logical and near-perfect.

It's regular contributors (Softcore - I don't go elsewhere) are so bloomin' informed and so sharing of knowledge, without patronising nor arrogance - that it is a pleasure to visit this forum.

And the various football threads just bear that out in a microcosm.
No antagonism, just support and banter.
Whereas on any other forum, vintage or footie...there would be blood.

Honestly, I'm really not following what the OP is trying to accomplish. Looks to me like the objective has changed from a debate challenge to something unrecognizable.

I can be be dense. But I'm really not getting the main point of the OP. The more he explains, the less I understand. Sorry, I'm thick sometimes.

The only thing that would improve VEF (in my humble opinion) is to have pictures of Jennifer Anistons norks.
