Got round to reading the latest issue of 2000ad which arrived today

The last in the current story - of JAEGIR: IN THE REALM OF PYRRHUS by Gordon Rennie (writer ) Simon Coleby (art ) - and it was a joy to read
also Strontium Dog continues to proceed apace

Prog 2078. Holy Moly. I don't see a price on the cover. This must be the only comic left standing for the teenage reader. Probably has been for many years.

It is priced at £ 2.75 - and you are totally correct -
the only British Comic left on the shelf - the only other famous ones left for young kids are either subscription mailing or e-mail PDF
I really enjoy reading it , and the great thing is the escapism value

Dieu bénisse l'Amérique.
La religion de la Maison-Blanche.

Author: Sébastien Fath
ISBN 2020629739
2004
288 pages

Quote:
Quote:
In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, sympathy for the United States was almost universally shared. Three years later, she largely evaporated. One of the essential reasons for this disenchantment is religion, that of Bush, that of his advisers, that of his nationalist and fundamentalist voters who make a Manichean reading of Good and Evil in the world. What is it exactly? The author recalls the role of "civil religion" in the United States - this impregnation of society as a whole by religious values. He describes the rise of evangelicals over the last thirty years and the concomitant retreat of other Protestant denominations. He analyzes the impact, despite appearances, of the secularization of American society: America and its way of life replace more and more the Christian messiah as a figure of salvation. It raises the question of changes - lasting or not - for three years: is there a break in American religious history? And what would be the consequences?
A friend of mine lent me this book. I'm at the half of it.

Interesting. I had no idea of all the evangelical currents raging in the USA.
It seems that's still almost impossible to become a President in the US and to be an atheist.

"Lord Of The Rings" by J.R.R Tolkien

One Ring to rule them all, One ring to find them
One ring to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

The 33. The story of the rescue of the Chilean miners. Just the thought of the day they were finally rescued brings tears to my eyes.
Then I have to go and beat myself up for being a wimpy tosser.
