Two on the go at the minute, Hunter Davies' "The Beatles" and "The Death of WCW" by Brian Alvarez and R D Reynolds.

Default The Bible With Sources Revealed

An Old Testament scholar's translation of the Books of Moses, with notes on sources -- meaning who wrote the original texts and who assembled them (J/E/P/D/R)

You don't have to be a scholar, Jewish, or even a believer to be fascinated by the sheer convolutedness of the Pentateuch. I am none of these, but the subject fascinates me

At any rate, if you wanted to know why the Bible contradicts itself so often, or even at all, this study will help

"Threat Vector" by Tom Clancy (with Mark Greaney). As with all Clancy novels, it is very well researched (locations as well as tech) and very exciting. About half-way through and the tension is really escalating.

Running man Stephen King.

A classic now...
One of my favourite.
He saw the future and it will be.

That's one more Dickens off my list, The Old Curiosity Shop. It's an early one and I prefer Dickens' later works, which had a harder edge to them. The danger with this novel is that you get distracted by the Little Nell part of the story, which is, frankly, way too sentimental. The other part of the story (Quilp, Swiveller, Kit and the Brasses) is actually pretty good, with some great characters. Dickens' nastier characters tend to be more entertaining than his nicer ones.

Default Tom Waits

If you want to understand some of Tom's stories - this is the answer; to all your prayers too! You have to laugh at life with this songster and poet.
