Have to admit I'm a fan and the fact that he isn't "cool" like Wiggo is a big plus in my book.
The Vuelta appears to be designed for masochists, so many near-vertical ascents just isn't funny.
ITV4's highlights were good as usual and I've learned to filter out the constant "Froome-is-boring-vibe" from Imlach, who is subtly put in his place by David Millar every time he appears on screen.
I think Froome is probably finished with the Vuelta and will concentrate on a fifth "Tour de France" and then the Giro d'Italia.
Great times for British cycling
It saddens me to say that when Froome took over the Giro lead from Simon Yates, yesterday, I automatically thought, drugs
Surely David Brailsford could have dealt with the uncertainty regarding Froome?
I honestly think that if Team Sky enter the Tour de France in 2018, they'll be slaughtered by everyone.
What a f*cking mess.

I am absolutely delighted that Chris Frome has achieved the lead in the Giro, I will not say won it yet, for fear of condemning him!

The drugs thing is a bit bizarre in my view, Sky are so switched on that I can not believe they would make this kind of mistake. The sample is double the limit, double, not forty per cent over or any other number double, that in itself makes me question the test in the first place, Froome has spent far to much time under this suspicion, it should have been dealt with within a few weeks of the end of the Vuelta, but I also say that the biggest amount of attacks on him on this subject come from our own press.

What I find interesting is that the riders, team managers and the rest of the worlds press have hailed it as one of the greatest rides of all time. Even Tom Doumilon, who has been critical of Frome riding in this Giro, whilst the case is ongoing. They have not even hinted at any suspicions, that to me says a hell of a lot. But surely the Giro organisers have got their reportedly million Euros worth?

We Brits do this all the time to our sportsmen and women, we get a world beater and spend as much tie as we can trying to dig the dirt, lets all, especially the press, bask in an incredible feat, for the third time in history, tonight perhaps, we will see only the third man in history to do the treble of holding all three major Tour titles at once.

Really my first thought was that was gutsiest and greatest Grand Tour Stage performance I'd ever seen and I've seen most of them since 1986.

A week off work with my feet up watching the Tour.
Perfect.
Shame about Froome crashing, hope he's 100%.
It's to early yet to make any predictions so I'm just going to watch and enjoy.

I usually can't wait for The Tour De France to begin........

This year though my enthusiasm has worn a great deal. I find it boring now, and then all the business regarding Wiggins, Froome and Team Sky.....it will need to be something special to catch my interest!

The Froome, Team Sky, Wiggins, saga, has damaged the sport in my view, I do feel that the Tour management acted as they did, with hindsight, to force the issue, after all the crap, all the deliberate leaks, no case to answer, it should never have happened, and it should have remained, what it is supposed to be, confidential, the one good thing to come out of it is that the doping enforcement will be forced to rethink their systems, and hopefully the sport will continue to clean up!

First week nerves, crashes and drama! But have been away and missed the first two stages.

I absolutely agree, the greatest stage win I have ever witnessed, sadly many will have felt the same as Mizlaplan, which shows what a total disgrace the whole saga has been.

With the tour ending its first week it is still wide open, in my view Sky are hedging their bets, allowing Geriant Thomas his head, with Froome still close to the leaders on GC, today on the cobbles will be interesting, and I can not wait for the mountain stages to begin, then perhaps we will see some clearer view of who is really in contention?

Cavendish at the moment seems to be a busted flush, and I have felt that for a few seasons now.

This has to be the most boring first week of a Grand Tour I can remember.
Nothing that anyone can talk about on this thread. Cav hasn't even been going fast enough to crash.

Punctures were about the most interesting thing. (I haven't had a puncture for over 2 years now since switching to Gatorskin Hardshells, saved loads on inner tubes, thoroughly recommend)

Let's hope things change from today and that the cobbles break up the peloton but without anyone getting killed like in Paris-Roubaix this year (even though that was actually due to a heart attack apparently).

Sadly I think you're right. He just hasn't got those extra gears which made him untouchable - and he knows it too. But it's a duller race without him at his peak. Jens Voight is a miss too.

As one of the commenatators observed, so far it's been more of a bike ride than a race.
