Are ya a gadget buff?
I ain't really into getting everything that shows up, however every now and again I reach deep down in my pocket for sth not really necessary.
Past Xmas season got a Nikon Coolpix P100 which is very good and although my iPod is quite old now - with 60gigs I've been more than happy with it. Got a netbook a couple of years back as well; pretty neat though it's only good for downloading and/or foruming. Not meant for 'Real' computing I mean. What about you? Are ya big spenders like? Fair enough I would probably get a PS3 for the kids, but no iPhone for the wife; sorry love.

Years ago if the Ipods and Ipads and everything else with an I in it had come out I'd probably have bitten someone's arm off to get one (I remember the rush of people to get a new fangled home computer in the boom of 1983 and I nagged my parents silly for a Spectrum, (which I got for a birthday present) and never looked back but as I get older I find myself less enthused about technology-if truth be known I actually hate technology. Videos that chew your tapes-why? Satellite channels like ITV4 that freeze the whole bloody system and cause you to turn off at the mains and then try again, computers that freeze up when a 2 windows open OR five things appear on the system tray and it just stops so you have to reboot (and always right in the middle of a conversation via WLM).
I will however have to get a new phone soon-mine is too small and possibly an MP3 player(Creative Zen not Ipod) and I like the look of these Flip Mineo mini camcorders for under £200, oh yes and my VERY old CRT television needs replacing with perhaps a new LCD screen type so its not all bad-but then again I have the feeling that everything has a chip inside it that renders it obsolete after a while. Best gadget is the Wii, again another present but I love playing games on it esp these James Bond types like 'A Quantum of Solace' and now 'Goldeneye'

Yep But at the same time no. If and when I buy a gadget, I'll go all out and buy top of the range most times. I like to buy most things once and once only and be certain you wont be needing that warranty etc....... I bought an iPod when they 1st came out, a 20 gig if I remember, it died, so I bought a 40 gig for replacement, it died, so I upgraded to an iPod touch, which I broke by, you don't wanna know , now up to my 4th so far so good. But the old stuff in me, I haven't got it yet, I want a new amplifier, but with vacuum tubes, I need quality sound

Ipod is an amazing device, from a room full of LP's (900+) to a CD wall (1600+) to a record collection in my jacket pocket.

Gadgets are my Achilles heal. I love them. The shinier, the brighter and the pricier the better. Why pricier? Well, that way I either can't afford them or can't justify buying them. Therefore, I can pine after them, but never be disappointed when I get them. Kinda like the lovely women posted on this very forum
That said, I love my iPod Touch and am looking forward to getting a new smart phone. I'm still debating between Android and Apple operating systems. And Victor... I know all of the arguments for mp3's and I do enjoy the accessibility and ease of use they offer, but something in me still yearns to see that wall of LP's and CD's. It's probably the years I spent working in record stores during my misbegotten youth

Yep, I have to confess for liking my toys, but I do not upgade too often
Hifi, a Linn system with pre amp, power amp, 3 way floorstanders and a mains filter have served me well for almost 15 years. MP3, I have my original Zen vision m 30 gig player (the machine that apple copied for the ipod) and it still works well and gives great sound after almost 5 years Headphones, several IEMs and a pair of Grado SR60 Cameras, a Panasonic Lumix TZ6 compact and a Samsung GX20 (same as Pentax K20D) plus a range of lenses and flashgun. A Canon MV6 digital camcorder also over 5 years old I am not a brand junkie (apart from Linn ) and I buy the machine that has the specs that best meet my needs rather then getting a familiar label. I dont upgrade until the thing breaks beyond economical repair. The only excpetion is headphones and IEMs where I do treat myslef once in a while. My laptop is a 6 year old HP |

No I'm not. I only get a gadget when I absolutely have to. The exception being gaming systems. I got a PS3 back in 2007 when I sold my house. It's one of the old 80GB fatty models. It just died on me last week and instead of running out and getting one of the new thin models, I got mine fixed in one day for $85. I just bought an Xbox last summer for Forza 3.
I don't want an Iphone or smart phone. I just don't need it. My monthly phone plan is 450 minutes and I don't think I've ever gone over half of that. I don't need to get on the internet from a phone, that's what a computer is for. I don't have an Ipod. Don't want anything to do with one. I had an MP3 player back 6 or 7 years ago when I was going to the gym but I haven't used it since. It's in a box somewhere around here. I'm sure I wouldn't know how to work it any longer. All my music is on CD's and that's good enough for me. I have no use for an Ipad or one of those book readers. If I want to read a book I'll get the paper kind. Don't have to put batteries in them. I've never understood those people that go and camp out in line just to buy the latest thing. They are going to make more of them. One guy I know does that everytime a new Iphone comes out and he says he does it just so he can be the first one with one and can show it off. YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! I told him he was fucking crazy. He gets angry at me because I won't buy these gadgets.
