I've been expanding my range of songs I listen to on Spotify. No one impresses me as much as Karen Carpenter.

She was before my time, and I'm someone who was impacted by Andrea Corr singing with The Corrs. But objectively, I think Karen has everyone covered overall. With Andrea, if she's singing a song I'm not into, then I just don't listen. But with Karen, even if the song isn't that good, I'm still compelled to listen all the way through. Her voice is aural silk.

edit: Her voice really is a gift to anyone who listens.

I feel that way about Amy Winehouse. It's a cliché, but she could sing the phone and stir emotions

southernboy liked my post; it reminded me of another point about Karen Carpenter (I'm still listening).

As I mentioned The Corrs in my earlier post. For those that do know them, you'd recognise Andrea Corr is however good a singer she is, but she can't play the drums. Caroline plays the drums for the band but can't sing (to the degree Andrea can at least).

Then here's Karen Carpenter. Who can sing just as well, if not better, than Andrea, and can play the drums just as well, if not better than Caroline.

That is a heck of a 2-for-1 deal. If she tried, she probably could play violin just as well, if not better, than Sharon Corr.
