Respectfully disagreeing: playboy, by & large, created an Image and then positioned themselves as the magazine of and for that Image. Later they tried to expand their market, not through careful application of image creation, but through simple dumbing down. I don't know that the image is too poisoned at this point to recapture the "glory days", but it would certainly take some effort.

I mean to say that, while I think that the appeal of more dignified smut is indeed attenuated, careful positioning could both bring back the market and bring back the magazine which would (assumedly) cater to that market. Yeah, chickens/eggs, picking oneself up by ones bootstraps, & all that.

Oh, and get better photogs & editors, please: the airbrush/photoshop garbage is like Cosmo for Men. Yuck.

Well, I for one have found some pictorials from Playboy to be the absolute best in softcore pornography. However, there are only about 10 playmates I find -really- sexually stimulating. What I mean by that is when I look at porn, I need large, natural boobs.

Playboy does a pretty good job on finding beautiful women. What I HATE is how nearly all of their playmates in the 2000s have implants. They are not attractive when viewed in the nude. I simply do not find that to be stimulating.

If I were to save Playboy, I would try to go a bit more back to its roots. Beautiful, natural women. They do not all need big boobs but goddamit, at least 4/12 months of the year I would have one with some really impressive D's or DD's. Stay away from airbrushing SO much, stay away from plastic tits, and dont be QUITE so shy about pubic hair and pussy.

Default Publish the lost Pics

My greatest dream is that someday Playboy will publish the pics of all playmates they have in their vaults uncensored.

I would pay a lot for uncensored pictures of some 80s girls.

Great topic, and thanks to the OP for posing the question.

There have been some terrific strategies posted already and no doubt my own thoughts will mirror them, but I think it's worth posting them to show that true fans of PB still do care about the magazine/company and really wish it can succeed through the next 50+ years.

1 Firstly, the magazine must put Pl*ym*tes first and foremost - they are the true success behind the PB story and unfortunately the PMOM/PMOY status has been eroded dreadfully over the past 10 years.
Feature natural PMs - it doesn't matter if they are curvy or slim, but they must be natural - hair, boobs, lips, hips. PMOM should represent wide and wondeful range of feminine beauty and should reflect their times too. Will my generation (my first PM was the adorable Miriam Gonzalez) have as many truly natural beauties to reflect on as the 60s/70s/80s generations?
In the past 10 years we have had jaw-droppingly gorgeous PMs like Miriam, Lindsey Vuolo, Amber Campisi, Juliette Frette and Lani Todd, but they are too few and far between.
It might be best to not dilute the PM status so much with multiple other model titles like CGOM and Employye OTM. It's overkill and the girls often aren't pretty enough.

2. Bring back truly glamourous erotica. PB represents a dream of a girl next door and I want to see it more often. there's glamour in the gorgeous college girl in her short skirt and tight top just as much as in her birthday suit. Let's see more pics of the PM girls at work, rest and play.

3. Revive the DVD range. It's dreadful that we can no longer look forward to new PM get togethers like we saw in the fantastic PM Pajama Party and PMs Unwrapped. We don't get to know the PMs anymore, and as a result can't become fans like readers in the past could. And if you do make more vids - keep it simple. Donna Edmondson has the most perfect PMOY video ever because it reflects her joyful personality as well as her somkin' hot body, and tender beauty.

4. Finally give the June cover back to the PMOY - she's the most beautiful women in the worldd this year (according to PB) so celebrate it! Get her more TV appearances and cameos, and allow her the opportunity to be an ambassador for the company. And make her a PMOY DVD!!

These are just a few ideas off the top of my head (I also agree with featuring the bunny costume again!). A mag that has been running for half a century should be celebrating it's considerable mythos and impressive past record, rather than meekly stepping down to the level of the Celeb-led, TMZ culture we endure.

I love PB, as many of us posters seem to here, I just wish it loved me back a little more

1. bin the photoshop.

2. put some pussy in the magazine. heat it up a bit.

3. ban razors, botox and silicone.

4. stop hefner boning all the models. the thought of some 80 something guy going through all the girls in the magazine puts me off from the start.

5. actually thinking about it after that last one... i think it would be better consigned to history. sorry hugh.

This has been a very fine thread about a great magazine that so many of us grew up with when we were younger but I have come to the conclusion that Playboy should call it a day.

I wouldn't agree with that. It's not the magazine it was in its heyday (60s-80s) or even the company it used to be up until the 90s, but it still has a lot to offer. There are still stunning pl*ym*tes like Juliette Frette, and Ida Lunqvist is an incredible beauty. And I'm still interested to see who the new pl*ym*te is each month, but I don't think the other photo features are anywhere near as impressive as they used to be. I'm rarely interested in their celeb shoots, and there's not the same quality or quantity of generally erotic photography as there was in the past.

Flick through any of the 70/80s mags and you'll see a wonderful PM layout, plus a interesting/beautiful celeb AND a more general shoot, often feature recent PMs.

We need more imaginationj from the PB editors - let's see more mutliple PM shoots, feature recent PMs in imaginative and erotic shoots, use more imaginative photographers. I would love to see a shoot like the breathtaking Pride Of Brides http://www.vintage-erotica-forum.com...1&postcount=86 now.

The last truly great Celeb shoot for me was the stunning Diora Baird - a wonderful cover and a model/actress more than worthy of PMOM (or even PMOY) staus herself. http://www.vintage-erotica-forum.com...1&postcount=86

This is the kind of PB we want to see - gorgeous natural girls in stunningly glamourous shoots.

Thanks for your sound observations as I agree with several of them but do you firmly believe that Playboy would listen to your constructive feedback today? I don't think so. Playboy like so many companies have been focusing far too much on the bottom line. Change as we all know is growth if it's positive. The classic Playboy years which you cited were indeed the zenith of quality for the magazine but there's so much that's absent now from its pages. I haven't bought a copy of Playboy in a long time although I did peruse one not that long ago which only depressed me.
