I am surprised there isn't one.)
Interesting. These still don't have the clout of a modern US Navy carrier though.

And they run on non-nuclear fuel - bad choice, if you have truly global ambitions.

I suspect these will mostly be sailed to and fro in the North Sea to "show the flag" against intruding Russians.

And I suspect that one may be mothballed after a short term in service as a reserve, due to budget constraints.

From what I have read, it doesn't sound like the UK has a very large military budget anymore, or support from the populace at large for financing these sorts of ambitious military projects.

The RN got rid of their last big aircraft carrier long before any of these 2 carriers were even built.

They also got rid of the Harrier GR9 in 2010 long before the F-35 B was even delivered to replace them and to replace the Tornado GR4 - I think so far only 9 out of 48 F-35 B ordered has been delivered since 2016 and they are still in Florida at an US Air Force base waiting for one of these 2 carriers to come pick them up.

Is GB still considering itself to be a military power?

How are they going to fight a war alongside its allies if another major war breaks out?

Same for Germany.

A few months ago, I read their Luftwaffe only has a handful of serviceable flyable jst fighters and bombers. The rest are broken down due to lack of maintenance and parts or have been cannibalized for parts.

The USA can't be expected to carry the load all the time.

The Carriers were a vanity project by Blair to make it look like Labour cared about Defence and bolster votes on the Clyde where the SNP were doing well at the expence of Labour.

The Chinese have a new insult. White Left. Used to insult someone who has taken something to an absurd length. Weird to think that I have a lot more in common with Chinese than I thought. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfjeNeRoXt8

If there is another war. It will be fought with nuclear missles only and that will put an end to this world possibly forever

Unhappy Birds 'starve' in Europe's extreme summer heat

Birds 'starve' in Europe's extreme summer heat

Quote:
Birds are currently suffering from a lack of food because of the dry soil caused by Europe’s warmer than usual summer.

The Association for Bird and Wildlife Conservation in Zurich said: “Unfortunately, we have had extremely starved birds in the last few weeks; there are fewer insects”.

It confirmed that since August 1, as many as 37 emaciated birds have arrived at the sanctuary. In other years, there were less isolated cases.

"Due to the heat, worms and insects are moving deeper into the ground. To get them back to normal, a longer rain phase is needed because of the many dried plants. The birds are also struggling to find seeds and grains," the sanctuary told Euronews.

I personally daily give grain and water to the birds of my neighborhood...
Problem is more with insectivors.

It's possible to feed them with dry cat food finely crushed.

I've seen magpies eating them.

We build two,new aircraft carriers but had no bloody aircraft for them apart from helicopters. I remember back in the 80's the Thatcher government built a new submarine silo somewhere in Scotland I think it was and then found that the bloody thing wouldn't fit properly-I am not sure if it was abandoned but it was a massive waste of money -nothing new for the Tories let alone Labour, but we have made so many cuts to the forces that there is no way we could mount a task force like the one in 1982 for the Falklands War, we just haven't the staff or equipment -but at least other countries have their problems too.

Interesting to note how the Government are talking about a no deal Brexit like a nuclear war is imminent. Does that mean another wonderful informative guide like the Protect and Survive manual will,be printed for us mere mortals -which looking back was about as useful and practical as a chocolate tea pot.

My new cat Spuckford was eating so many birds this summer - I had to get him a collar with a louder bell.

Here he is a few weeks ago , sleeping off a couple of thrushes he had for lunch.

Yeah but it's swings and roundabouts.

It's been a bumper summer for the seagulls with all the flocks of tourists where I live.

They just need to adapt like them and live off discarded chips and sandwiches.

Everyone can create a channel on YT and act like he's got something interesting to say. Also, if you don't know shit about history, society and economy but want to look and sound like you're very smart and educated, just call yourself libertarian. I think that's what these two do. Terms like SJWs, Cultural Marxism, Progressives etc. are typical for the pseudo-discourse in the US and even there mainly among detached-from-reality college kids and internet smartasses aka keyboard warriors.
