edit: i had never heard of Oswald, by the way. Was he a big deal at the time or just a local fascist like every country probably had?

Mosley was more of a big deal as an MP before He became a Fascist in 1930,He was imprisoned in 1940 and after was largely irrelevant.

He was our local Quisling in waiting; but quite well connected in some ways. His marriage to Diana Mitford took place in the country home of Joseph Goebbels in 1936, with Hitler as the guest of honour; so he definitely knew people in high places in the Third Reich.

We are much too soft. We should have tried a lot more of these people for their treason and hanged them for the crows to eat. But possibly being left to wither on the vine and eventually survive only as custodians of stately homes and employees of the National Trust was a more subtle and galling punishment than merely hanging them.

I thought it was strange that Heinlein's Juan Rico - an Argentinian - turns into Blonde, blue eyed Johnny Rico for the movie - but I thought that was because Hollywood wouldn't invest in a movie without a Caucasian in the lead role. I wonder now if it was more for the Fascist male image that Verhoeven wanted.

Anyway, I thought their uniforms in the movie were cool.

The real problem with "African-American" vs. "Black" is that the former has seven syllables while the latter has only one.

My suggestion for those forcibly relocated Africans now living here is to think up a catchy moniker for themselves containing only two syllables, perhaps three at the most. That is, if you want it to catch on and enter into common usage.
