Recaptcha getting ridiculous on some hosts
I'm finding more and more lately that some hosts are virtually unusable in their free versions because the recaptcha requirements are getting more and more onerous.
Upstore.net has become one where I can go through 10 minutes of captcha questions and it still will not accept my answers . There's often no rhyme or reason to it. Lately, I'm solving the captcha correctly, and it just send me to another captcha to start all over again. Katfile is another. I spent about 15 minutes yesterday on one file before I finally gave up. It was simply not going to allow me to download the file. Mind you, this is all using JDownloader 2, so there's no reason it shouldn't work. This is almost certainly carefully crafted to frustrate everyone to the point where they just purchase premium.

It's not only file hosts... yesterday I tried to log onto a certain software support forum, and for five minutes I tried to find buses, street signs, and store fronts. Some of them are so tiny or blurry that you need a magnifier to see them. And then there are the additional images they throw in when you think you're done. Someone ought to tell these idiots that not everyone is 22 years old with perfect vision.

That's fine if you want paid.... but don't make us jump through hoops if you really don't plan to offer anything for free and just want to make it look like you do.
I really wish this board would enforce a small subset of hosts and that's it. I'm getting tired of dealing with this stuff and I'm not going to pay for half a dozen hosts.

Depends what sites your talking about
Some filehosts - usually those paying cash rewards but not always - instead of saying - busy server badluck like file factory does will keep captcha / recaptcha / solve media going round and round. My advice - bookmark and comeback later Sometimes its wrong letters like in the example from 2013 below but today i'd err towards the server being over loaded From 2013 CAPTCHAS - when there are 2 you need only enter the 1 http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...&postcount=124 PS Past mandatory filehosts only worked because those hosts were widely used by the broader paying community - those types of hosts no longer exist You can go right back to rapidshare in the middle of the 00s If you didnt have premium - be it free upgrade or paid - when it first began its reward scheme it was inaccessible for 2 months PPS a search under recaptcha on the jdownloader forum turned this up (5) JAntiCaptcha configuration JAntiCaptcha(JAC) is tool, written by JDteam, to find objects in images. In JD it's mainly used, to be a helpfull friend concerning captchas. Good to know For some captchas the default threshhold 80 is too low. This means, that you often get a captcha dialog even though the result is correct. To avoid this you should increase the threshhold (to about 95) http://jdownloader.org/knowledge/wik...w/janticaptcha Last edited by buttsie; July 17th, 2018 at 09:50 PM.. Reason: adding |

I'm relieved that my ophthalmologist confirmed I still have 20/20 vision. Missing so many buses, RVs, storefronts and street signs recently had me question my vision and sanity.

I have noticed that the image-based captchas seem to fail if I am too diligent in my "clicking". For instance, street signs will always fail if I select the boxes that contain the posts that support the signs, or if I click adjacent boxes that include a small sliver of the sign.
I conclude that the only boxes that require "clicking" are the ones that have at least 20% of their area covered by an actual sign. I really struggle with the "store-front" image captchas, and will often fail them on purpose to trigger something easier . . .like buses, or cars. |

These captas are used to improve google maps and to train AI systems. Because of this you sometimes get new images where the answer is not known yet to the system. Then you have to solve another one where the answer is known. As soon as they have enough similar answers to new images, the answer gets accepted. No human interference necessary on their side.
The resulting data is very valuable and we work for free! |

Interesting reading here
Under No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA reCAPTCHA has become nearly impossible to complete for people who frequently clear their cookies.Supposebly by 2017 this no longer occured or shouldnt Under security You can have 32 tries at captcha before it will lock you out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReCAPT...TCHA_reCAPTCHA Software engineer Andrew Munsell, in his article "Captchas Are Becoming Ridiculous" states "A couple of years ago, I don’t remember being truly baffled by a captcha. In fact, reCAPTCHA was one of the better systems I’d seen. It wasn’t difficult to solve, and it seemed to work when I used it on my own websites." Munsell goes on to state, after encountering a series of unintelligible images that despite refreshing "Again, and again, and again. The captchas were not only difficult for a computer to read, but impossible for a human." Munsell then provided numerous examples. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReCAPTCHA#Criticism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReCAPTCHA |

My experience is that it takes far more turns using Palemoon than when I use Chrome.
