In case you've forgotten or you're not old enough to remember, I can tell you exactly how this shaving shit got started because I was paying attention as it happened. It all began with Christie Brinkley and the 1979 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. That was the debut of the high-sided bikini bottoms. If those of you who are in your 50s or older will think back, surely you can remember how weird those things looked when they first showed up (they made every girl look like she had PJ Sparxx's lower unit -- including Christie Brinkley). Little did we realize then that they were going to change more than bathing suit styles. Older style bikinis could contain all but the most bodacious bushes, and it never even occured to the average girl to try to control or modify her pubic hair. However, this new style exposed the sides of the crotch and almost demanded that women trim their "bikini area" to wear them. From that moment on, things started to slide downhill. Every year for the next several years, swimsuits revealed more and more crotch, culminating in the "dental floss" T-back bottoms. As more women began doing some shaving, the porn industry picked up on the trend and started exaggerating it. By my reckoning, 1985 was the last year that full bushes covered 90% of porn pussies. Aftere that, the number of shavers began increasing at a logarithmic rate. By the 90s, almost all porn stars shaved at least partially. The real world was much slower to fully embrace shaving for several more years, but I don't need to continue the story because we know where we are now. I am old enough (senior citizen) to remember the history but thanks for detailing it here. But surely you mean 'an exponential rate' Logarithms scale down, not up. That said, I am also one who regrets profoundly the disappearance of hairy bushes.

Well don't feel bad guys, I am 21 and prefer the 70's style's that woman had. Including the bush. I mentioned what I prefer before but just to let you know many guys my age feel the same way about bald pussies. Most my buddies will say oh it's gross I don't want hair in my mouth. The last time I was with a girl with a "bush" was when I was a 10th grader in 1981. In the 90s I was dating (okay, mainly sleeping with) older women almost exclusively. It was nice, because they hadn't joined the trimming craze yet. These days even MILFs and GILFs seem to think that they should shave everything off.

Someone else mentioned variety. When it comes to bush there's an almost infinite variety, dictated by natural factors such as colour, shape, thickness, and also by the way the woman looks after it. In fact, in some cases you can identify a model just by looking at her bush. Line up a bunch of bald pussies, and unless she's got some distinctive lips, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. All part of the sad need to conform.

Women usually like to keep their pubic hair neatly trimmed. I don't think, though, that in general they're just dying to shave all of it off. If anything, bald is actually harder to maintain than hairy.

In the real world, then, it's not surprising that a lot of women still have hair. My guess is that it's mainly younger women who shave it all off, either to please guys who are too damned trendy, or because they're wearing tiny little swimsuits (also the cause of the dreaded "landing strip").

Models do what they do because that's what they're being ordered to do.
