I find the current UK obsession with "knife control" to be ridiculous. Really, how can you ban knives?

We used to make knives in school as part of a project for a grade. I made one myself, though it was admittedly a pretty poor specimen. There were kids who made cannons too.

On the illicit side of the shop floor, there were kids making marijuana pipes, throwing stars, and boot daggers.

Anyone with access to a decent piece of metal, a grinder and some electrical tape can turn out a fairly ferocious pigsticker with a little work. It may not be shaving sharp or hold an edge for long but it will get the job done.

If they can't stop them in prison, you have little chance to stop them on the street.

If you make entire countries into Utopian prisons, like the UK, though...

...it still doesn't work, and it never will.

Airport style scanners every 50 yards....that should do it.....mind you it will take a very long time to actually go anywhere on foot.....and people will certainly get stabbed whilst queuing to go through....but that's a small price to pay for security...and think of the employment opportunities....one person to watch the scanner, 2-3 to intervene when triggered, several more 'rovers', a ready reaction squad (at least 6)....times how many scanner units did you say..?

Aluminum foil knife. I wonder how it would stand up in a knife fight?

Apparently explosive decompression that blew out a window will cause a person to be sucked out of it, the lady who died in this engine accident was partially out of the plane when other passengers pulled her back in.

This is called selective citation of facts, or more commonly, lying with statistics. Your assertion is true only of you take into account the last two months.

There were 116 murders in London in 2017, fewer than half New York’s annual total of 290.

In the calendar year of 2016 there were 334 murders in New York. In the financial year 2016-17 (1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017) there were 102 murders in London, suggesting – but not proving - that at that point the UK’s capital’s murder rate for any given 12-month period was less than a third of New York’s.

Similarly, New York had 352 murders in the calendar year 2015, while London’s Metropolitan Police recorded 109 homicides between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016.
