I hope they throw this LYING WHITE BEYACH in prison for the rest of her life!

She is saying she has never seen a school bus before and didn't know it was a school bus hence that's why she didn't stop because she not knowing it was a school bus, she also didn't know she was supposed to stop for it when the school bus lights are on and flashing !!

That's the BIGGEST LOAD of BULL SHIT I have ever heard of in my life !!

Firs of all, now here in that story does it say that the the driver has never seen a school bus before, but that she for reasons that aren't stated didn't recognize the bus as a school bus, but she DID see the lights flashing.

Which doesn't add up.

She also had her three kids in the car with her which raises the possibility that one or more of them did or was doing something which distracted her attention and thus led to the crash.

If she doesn't recognize a big yellow bus with the words school bus in front and flashing red lights also in front of it as a school bus, it means she is saying she never seen a school bus before

how do you not recognize it as a school bus if she HAS seen a school bus before? Even anyone who just started driving and just got their driver's license should know it's a school bus from seeing it on the streets while out and about and seeing photos of it or in the movies or on TV.

That is some serious negligence. And she's lying.

Every kid in America knows what a school bus looks like, and we were all kids once and either rode on them or saw them at school.

You are supposed to stop at least 20 feet behind a school bus when its red lights are flashing, and watch for kids as it moves off. If you are oncoming in the other lane, you must STILL stop, 20 feet or more in front of the bus and wait again for the kids to move off safely. That's the law.

I feel sorry for her kids, but she killed three others, and deserves some serious time in an orange uniform eating bad food and licking nasty female inmate pussy.

And she should never, ever be allowed to drive any sort of vehicle again.

Drivers do stupid things. Some young lady dropped a cassette tape, bent down to pick it up and killed four cyclists pedaling on the side of the road. One was from our office. Her excuse was just as flimsy as the OP post. Is throwing her in jail going to do any good? No one tries to kill little kids on/off a school bus. No one tries to kill cyclists on the side of the road. Stupid things happen. She probably will develop an alcohol or drug problem trying to live with what she has done, if she has any conscience.

What you're saying presupposes that the only reason people should be jailed is to prevent them re-offending. That's simply not true. We jail people to stop re-offending, sure. But we also jail them as punishment and to encourage others not to offend. If someone prioritised a fallen cassette tape over road safety then they need to be punished for the consequences, which were severe. It was not an accident - it was negligence.

We don't know what happened here so lets reserve judgement until facts are out. But let's be clear, if no compelling facts emerge, "I didn't recognise it as a school bus" is and should be a ticket to the hoosegow.

Her bull excuse that she didn't recognize the school bus as such is**like some of the excuses I've gotten when I was a Police Officer after pulling someone over for a traffic moving violation:

I didn't know there is a speed limit.

I thought the speed limit is suggestive and not mandatory (an analogy of that is the photos you see on food packaging that reads serving suggestions).

I didn't know you still had to stop at a (stop sign/traffic light) if I am the only car there.

You can't give me a ticket. I have never heard of that [insert law, violation there].

That's when I tell them: Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law and does not give you a free pass to get out of getting a ticket or jail - you can go argue with the judge about that on your court date.

I understand the punishment angle on killing someone who was negligent with a vehicle. When the 17 year old driver killed those four cyclists decades ago, we all wanted her hung from a tree, but I recall articles written about her a decade later and she was a mess. An alcoholic/drug addict who could not forgive herself and whose life never recovered. She wasn't an addict prior. What good would it do this driver if we put her in jail for years? It is not going to cure stupidity. Suspend her license, require to attend safety classes, fine her. In a perfect world, if she was terminally stupid, spay her and prevent her from ever driving.

I mean, there are no negligent serial driving killers. Maybe I am naive, but how many idiot drivers are there who go speeding around school buses with blinking lights?
