Motorsport (amateur and professional) is huge here, look at how many of the F1 teams are based here. The "German" Mercedes team, the "Austrian" Red Bull team, the "Indian" Force India and the "French" Renault team (though they build the Renault engine in France) all have their factories in the UK. Then there's McLaren, Williams and Manor, which leaves Ferrari, Haas, Sauber and Torro Rosso based outside the UK.

Great thread. To all my motorhead friends here at VEF, in case you don't have it, here's a couple of "one stop shop" link to a lot of current worldwide motorsport events. Hope this helps sate your racing jones' a bit
Google: BurningWhee1s I removed the link I posted earlier because it was not working. So just type "Burningwhee1s" on your search engine and go from there. The second site is: http://www.gpreplay.com/index.htm ______________ Some may disagree. In fact many may disagree but i just had to post this for a good laugh since the topic is about racing, lol: TOP 10 REASONS RACING IS BETTER THAN SEX... (author unknown) 1.you're expected to burn rubber. 2.its OK to be a spectator 3.there is a pit crew to help out. 4.the faster you are the better. 5.it lasts for several hours. 6.its acceptable to tailgate. 7.you're SUPPOSED to finish first. 8.ear plugs are OK to drown out noise. 9.you don't have to kiss the race car. 10.you get a trophy when you finish! Jimmie Johnson gets his 7th!
Congratulations to San Diego native Jimmie Johnson, as he finally gets that elusive 7th title - some of you might remember how NASCAR changed the rules in 2014 to stop his onslaught of titles. I would rather that he won the title in more impressive fashion, but a win is a win...
Jimmie Joy Ride was the title of the print version of this article... Quote:

Great coverage of Goodwood Revival on their YouTube channel today and the weekend.
I've got it up on our big TV as we are not able to attend this year. |

This weekend in Gubbio, Perugia, Italy
Live timing tomorrow and Sunday here. Sunday only live stream from 10:00 CET+1 on FIA YouTube channel here. An English language commentary is on that stream or is selectable. I’ve spoken to the two commentators today who have been recording some interviews. Last edited by risen; October 13th, 2018 at 12:39 AM.. |

Ken Wharton Memorial Autotest
Takes place today (Saturday 20th October) at the Chateau Impney near Droitwich. https://www.hdlcc.com/kenwharton
Back in the days of black and white television this used to be broadcast live with commentary by either John Bolster or Raymond Baxter. Autotest is a virtuoso display of car control and you won’t see better than at this event. Not unusual for the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland to dominate with many competitors being pub landlords. Admission is free and the catering, being at a decent hotel, is excellent. Didnt see anyone mention drag racing, I've always loved it. I used to race a 1955 chevy I had, it ran 12.8s in the quarter. I had the chance to be next to the tree when the winged Express altered made a full pass. The amount of hp to put a car into the 5s on 3 wheels is mind blowing!
I like f1 one too but I also dig those crazy Aussies that take super small cars and wedge giant overly supercharged v8s in them! |
