I can see Carrie Burnell's attraction, her face has a slightly top-heavy big-eyed prettiness - as for the parents who said her missing right hand and forearm frightened their kids when seeing her on CBeebies, I'm baffled - when I was a kid such things were a subject of curiosity rather than fear among my friends - which I guess can be almost as irritating as fear to the people who have similar physical conditions. Unless children have changed greatly in their psychology since the 1960s, I'd guess this reaction was really the parents projecting their own feelings onto their kids.

Anyway, to my point - Carrie Burnell reminds me of a broader-faced Carol Kane, an american comic actress I used to fancy in my 20s whenever she was on TV or in a film. She had parts in lots of big films in the 70s and 80s, "Annie Hall", "Scrooged" and so on, usually as a comic character, but the part she's probably best know for was Simka, Latka's (Andy Kaufman) girlfrend/wife in the sitcom "Taxi".

It's not that Carol Kane is ugly or anything, she's quite pretty is an ethereal way, it was that her heavy-eyed pallid face struck me as ghost-like to an almost off-putting degree. I suspect that, along with her comic talent, her spectral looks were why she got the part ot "the Ghost of Christmas Present" in "Scrooged"

Some more photos -the one nude shot at the end is Carol in her charmilessly-credited small part of "Young Whore" in "the Last Detail" (1973).
