Default Dumbest Decision In High School

I would like to start a thread about the dumbest decision(s) you ever made in high school, at least as far as women are concerned.

There are two things in high school that I regret: one thing I didn't do, and one thing I did but later feel very stupid about.

The thing I feel very stupid about is going to this (fake) redhead's sweet sixteen party, who wanted me to bring tapes of her favorite musicians, then she was rude to me at the party and refused to dance with me in front of other guests who she knew from "drama club" [she was a wannabe actress who eventually majored in college theater, somewhat like the girl Maggy in an XYZ song]. For the next two months, we had an on-again/off-again relationship, but by the end of high school, I decided that she was arrogant and disgusting.

The thing I didn't do was approaching one girl at a low point of my 9th-grade life, in the same way as I approached another model-quality girl at a high point of my 10th-grade life. The girl I considered approaching was somewhat religious, but nice, and was dating a cool "football jock" guy who wasn't arrogant, but in shape. After I had already broken up with my first 9th-grade girlfriend, I decided that this model-quality girl was better looking, but possibly less romantically and sexually prudish. But because I heard she was still dating this guy, I chose not to approach her, because I didn't think I had enough looks or confidence.

She eventually matured by 12th grade to have the beauty, figure, and sex appeal of Pamela Anderson, with enough humor and ego problem to actually make fun of Pamela for her implants in class! [She must have thought she was hotter, and I might have agreed with her back then.] Unfortunately, I was not in shape at the time and didn't own fitness equipment; I had trouble with finding the time and energy to work out at the gym like when I first knew her. So I decided to wait until the day we got yearbooks, THEN try for her phone number, when everyone did that, either to just be friends OR ask someone out [I had never been refused a phone number on yearbook day.]

To my terrible surprise, she was absent from class that day, and apparently went on a vacation; I never saw her again for the remaining ~10 days of senior year. She eventually showed up on the night of my high school graduation ceremony, after everything else was over, but holding hands with a decent-looking guy who was her boyfriend. It startled the hell out of me, and I had no idea what to say to her in front of him, even though she looked super-hot in her "naughty schoolgirl" outfit and THAT figure. So all I did was ask her one line of innuendo that Nickelback would eventually make famous: "Are we having fun yet?" [Her next boyfriend did, in fact, look like Chad Kroeger himself, and she appeared in my workplace with him that fall.]

It was the weirdest occurrence in the second half of high school to run into her like that, not once, but twice. The third time I saw her, in 1996, she was working in the mall food court three spaces down from me, but her face looked horribly blemished with acne, and she was now a heavy smoker with smokers' teeth. I chose not to pursue her because she didn't have a pretty face anymore, even though she had never done anything to hurt me; I guess it is the one instance in my life where I decided to value a woman's beauty over her personality. Having been made fun of in grade school for not being buff in body, wouldn't I at least have "lookism" enough to want a woman to have a pretty face, if not the bombshell figure? I guess high school and its discriminatory attitudes screwed up my ability to interact with women outside high school. So I chose not to pursue her, just because of acne and tobacco.

As of 2015, as our twenty-year reunion approaches, her Facebook says that she is engaged to a vaguely nerdy-looking guy up near Hamilton, Ohio; she seems to have lived in that part of my metro area since high school. I was told that her life was "rocky" after high school, which might be anything: failed marriages, single motherhood, domestic violence, or financial problems. So maybe I should have tried harder for her in 1992 and 1995 when I first knew her, even if I didn't have much faith in myself or in her.

But if there's time travel, I might still be able to solve this dumb mistake.

I could also add that Tommy Lee didn't even get to keep Pamela Anderson in real life, after they were together a few years. This is probably typical of rock musicians, that when they get involved with girls or drugs, they can seriously wreck their lives.

All of my bad experiences with women in high school are rooted in two problems: One is that many (young) men lack looks, money, and college, even if they already have sincerity, intelligence, and a workout routine. Two is that people still believed in raising Generation X women of conservative Cincinnati TOTALLY different from men (or at least me personally); they simply had the wrong values and did not care how they treated people, even if they were good-looking on the outside. People expect men to impress women with looks, money, and college; women back then were only expect to have looks, plus act nice to the man, even if they didn't ultimately mean it.

My first girlfriend was good-looking and worked out, but sexually prudish and prejudiced about religion; she became class valedictorian in 1995 and earned a Ph.D. in Nebraska. My next girlfriend was super-hot and wanted to sleep with me when I was not quite 16; she broke off the relationship to date, then go to the dance, with a much older college student. The next two girls were very arrogant, if somewhat friendly and good-looking. My last girlfriend, in junior year, was nice, intelligent, cultured, and possibly the classiest brunette I knew in our school -- then she attacked me on New Year's Eve in a phone conversation, told me she never wanted to talk to me again, and I gave up on high school girls after that breakup. I didn't date in senior year or go to the Prom.

But if I were buff and had time travel, I could go to TWO proms in 1994 and 1995, with TWO different blonde girls who resemble Karen Mulder and Pamela Anderson. Like Jani Lane, I've never had two women before, but I'm an open-minded person...

See my post under the "Ever Been Had/Conned by a Date" thread. The first girl was the dumbest decision I ever made in high school, girl-wise.

Absolute dumbest decision was trespassing to climb up a 200-foot tower using the tower's rotting wooden ladder. Easily could have fallen to my death.

While going to an all-boy's school, not letting my older sister set me up with girls from her all-girl's school.

The dumbest decision I ever had at school was to concentrate on my studies and miss out on all the fun of dating. It seemed a bright idea at the time, get my exams, get a good job and earn lots of money. Then when that was all going ahead I would meet someone and settle down and it would all be good. The problem was I left school, started work and hated being a corporate gopher followed by a corporate clone. I was then a boss who hated work because it was so constrictive and you had to punish people for the smallest of reasons and going to work was a chore not a pleasure. I then got out of it, started as a care worker and then became self employed as a private carer and enjoyed life much better. The money is not great, I won't get rich and I will probably have to work until I die but its better than office work. I am happy to go to work, I enjoy it and although I am employed technically by the person I am caring for, the final decision on things is mine. I don't like the terms of the deal I don't have to take it.

Now I look back with a slight regret and think what fun I could have had dating and chasing the girls when at school. I didn't need the exams in the end and so I wasted all those prime years when I could have met the right person and be settled down now.

@ AmateurEmale- Jeez, how many girlfriends did you have in high school? Did you leave any for someone else?

I regret not taking my basic education more seriously. (English, Math, etc)
I put all my focus and energy into art class.

Girl wise, snubbing a hot chick because she was a bitch. Passing on a cute girl I know liked me. Generally focusing on the girls I couldn't have.

Probably like 99% of the High School population the world over. The thing is most of us still do the same thing today and still have the same success rate, 0%.

I'd make a list of all the dumb things I did, but my keyboard would likely run out of ink before I finished it.
