Person of the year.
Seen as it's close to the end of year, who's your person of the year?
Seen as he's shuffled off this mortal coil, I nominate Nelson Mandela. Sure, he had his faults, but don't we all? He came out of prison after being incarcerated for 27, yes 27 years basically on account of the colour of his skin. If that had happened to me, I don't know if I would have been that magnanimous. And stopped a country from descending into a bloodbath. He gets my vote.

Nigella Lawson, her court case and the allegations that she likes a toot every now and again basically confirm she'd be really, really dirty.

As TIME Magazine used to note their Person of the Year did not have to be universally liked, just someone who made a massive impact in that year so ..... for 2013
Edward Snowden http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Snowden Whatever the rights and wrongs of his case he has highlighted the way Governments spy on their own people, not just those who are suspected of planning crimes or helping to track down wanted criminals just the average Joe & Joy Public. (Wiki) In December 2013, a federal judge ruled that the government had "almost certainly" violated the US Constitution by its practice of "collecting data on nearly every single phone call within or to the United States". Big Brother is here and any future Government will have ample shit collected to throw at anyone that disagrees with them. |

A man who, with a straight face, said the Catholic church has to be more in tune with the very poorest in the world, while sitting on a gold plated throne!

It's a start.
I'd go with Nelson Mandela. He stopped SA becoming a complete bloodbath and his call for forgiveness and moving forward and not wallowing in the past was brilliant. |
