I had the thought that it might be helpful if I passed along the info to you about links that try to do bad things rather than simply dodging them. It is annoying to get told I needed to update Google Chrome or Adobe Flash when both programs are set to auto update the latest version. The really annoying ones are the ones that tie up the computer and insist that I am infected or that the FBI is impounding my computer. Sorry, but been around too long to buy that sh*t.

Do we have members actively trying to harm the rest of us? Can we help by sounding the alarm about booby trapped posts?

I am not talking about poppiing up LJasmin and other Live Cam services. I know that sites need to earn their keep to pay the bills.

I seem to recall that a year or so ago that a certain image host had a problem with an infected server, and some of the images from it were on VEF. Maybe it's something like that.

Just to clarify, I am not saying that the problems are coming form VEF. They are coming from links on Imagebam and Pimpandhost, etc.. One of these services S*** seems to be particularly egregious.

I believe that some folks may be posting thumbnails on VEF with links to hosting services that are in turn linked to sites that will attept to install worms and viruses. It may be that bad guys have a way to sabotage links and our members are not at fault. I am not knowledgeable enough about programming to know.

A good adblocker should keep out the ransomware,I favour Adblock Plus,It's free on FF.

I'm getting unwanted pages opening with a "do you want to stay on this page message," usually if I open something like Imagebam. Nothing will stop it on my system. It's been annoying until tonight, when I had a threat from some fictional police department demanding payment for viewing porn. Now I'm becoming bothered about this. I would say, never click on to these messages. Immediately clear your browser using Task Manager, then clear out all the temporary files in your system and check the registry. I use CCleaner for this. Without doing something like this, the same crap will re-appear.

Right now, I'm becoming a bit nervous about clicking on to anything on VEF that is linked to a site like Imagebam. There is clearly a problem here that needs sorting.

I'm using Firefox with NoScript and AdBlockPlus and I get none of that. If you are using the same config, I would run a full boot virus scan on my system because you may have malware lurking somewhere.

noscript is too much of a hassle (as you need to manually input a lot of things you actually want and that noscript is blocking) but use adblock edge (same as adblock, but minus the advertising adblock lets thru).

disabled avast for 10min, got onto the site, and i get no warnings anymore even 10mins are long expired and all avast shields are on again.

surfed many galleries, didn't see anything suspicious. (bit i did notice many imagebam pix are missing..thumbnails there, but no images...have to recheck that in another browser..)

I'm using Pale Moon and the version of AdBlock available not only give trouble, but in this case, doesn't work. Unfortunately, when I was using Firefox, I had problems downloading from YouTube, or hanging pages and I think Pale Moon is generally an improvement over Firefox.

I would also mention that I have run a number of full scans since the problem returned on VEF after many months and nothing has ever shown up. Once you clear everything out, it's gone, until you click onto the wrong link again. VEF is the only place where I've had this issue and it really is a problem at the moment.
