Hold yer horses, TM. The American Buffalo (or bison) population may have been greatly reduced, but by no means have they been exterminated. Hike yourself over to Yellowstone National Park and you'll see herds of them. Current population estimates are over 500,000 on both public and private land.

Ok. Maybe I should not have used the word exterminate. But in the 1830's the plains states had tens of millions of buffalo. People would say that whole states were black with them. Now as you say there are big herds of them which are protected.

I live in the 'Dolphin Capital of Australia' not the Gold Coast and surf twice a month. Our dolphins are either better behaved or have better eyesight. I have never been 'taken out' by a dolphin.
