Did you know one of the most cringeworthy appearances by a pop star in a big US television series was Boy George & Culture Club's appearance in an episode of 'The A Team' The premise is that Murdoch has hired a country band to play for some charitable thing and thinks they are getting 'Cowboy' George but wouldn't ya know it they get Boy George instead. They all get mixed up in the usual mayhem but the most cringeworthy thing is when Boy George turns to George Peppard's character and says "Awesome Hannibal!" Yikes! One singer who did himself a bit of good was Phil Collins who appeared in Miami Vice as Phil the Shill(bet that didn't take long thinking up) but our Phil was a child actor so probably knew what he was doing and later he appeared as a policeman in 'Hook' as well as an ex train robber Buster Edwards in 'Buster'

Napoleon and Hitler were born 129 years apart, they both came to power 129 years apart, both declared war on Russia 129 years apart and were both defeated 129 years apart.

Les used to play the piano in brothels in Paris apparently and Dudley was a concert pianist but also loved jazz. Les was brilliant in playing the piano badly which is no easy feat. I have heard that there are a series of notes that if you play them to women it can turn them on-I am not sure how accurate this is.

Brit comedian and Albanian hero Norman Wisdom could play to a limited extent and wrote seven songs including his hit "Don't Laugh at Me" - but he was a very good drummer.

Here are a few facts about Hull, named and beginning it's year as City of Culture.
Hull is credited for the invention of:
Lemsip(cough & cold remedy), LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) screens and the boiled sweet

Actors Maureen Lipman, Sir Tom Courtnay & Reece Shearsmith were born in Hull as well as record-breaking solo female pilot Amy Johnson, William Wilberforce(slavery abolitionist) and Roy North-who spent a stint as Basil Brush's sidekick 'Mr Roy' but was originally a radio DJ

The one thing I know about (Kingston upon) Hull is that it is the only UK city with its own, independent telephone system - KCOM. It has come up in many a quiz evening over the years.

Oh! One more - Mick Ronson, Bowie's magnificent collaborator, came from Hull.
