Or am I showing my dislike for the EU, and its non democratic existence? By the way Puhbear, it is the constant interference by the EU, in our domestic policy which in part is the cause of Brexit, the EU Commission do what they like, to whom they like, because they believe they can. Remind you of any part of History?
Ah - nonsense !!!

Jean Claude Junker is at first a democrat. It would be contra productive if he starts any hysterical attack on the Catalan - and he will not do - as much of the I can't imagine it.

I think most of the EU - members don't applause the Spanish government to their police action of their National police. To the opposite ! I heard here extremely critics of some politicians.
Of course not officially - Germany has at first other problems with building their coalition.

The Brexit has nothing to to with the situation in Spain. As a Brit who voted for the Brexit one can pray for a good and friendly solution in case of the Spain vs. Catalan because of Gibraltar. Else the Spanish would be forced to be petulant and block the negotiations -> = hard Brexit.

Jean Claude Junker is a Democrat? He won his Presidency in which election? Or was I asleep and missed it?

I did not vote for Brexit, I was away helping to deal with the problems of other countries, within in the UN. As for a friendly solution with Spain over Gibraltar, the EU have made their position clear! They support Spain, another example of democracy in the EU, the people of Gibraltar want to remain within the UK by a mere 92%!

The only people talking about a hard Brexit are the EU commissioners, non elected democrats, and the British Press, our politicians, who are elected by the way, are trying to be reasonable, but the demand by the EU that we continue to pay huge contributions to the budget, are not exactly seen as being fair!

There is an other thread too about the Brexit which is having nothing to do with the actual Spanish conflict and action of the Spanish national police.

One question: Aren't the Brits having a a member in the EU-commission in the past and nowadays?
Answer: I think his name is Julian King and he is determined by the British government.
Jonathan Hill was commissioner before Julian King.

Ask them and make them responsible. !!!!

I agree we do, but he too has no right to speak for me! I did not vote for him, therefore to me he is the same as the rest, a dictatorial puppet!

I love your invention of the word "intermeddle".

I'm going to use that and get it into the OED as soon as possible. You, sir, are the new Shakespeare.

Default Intermezzo

The "Pils" (Beer sort) is having birthday today !
175 years
of Pils brewed at Plzen brewage art.

Happy birthday "Pils".

-----------------
I personally like the Pils not so much. I prefer the Bavarian beer sorts having much more malt as a Pils.
For the English members here: it gets drunk about 8° C.

Nothing at all. I genuinely like it - but I have never heard it before. We tend to say "interfere" but, having looked it up, I see that intermeddle is an accepted word.

You have taught me an English word that I have never encountered in my 60 years of avid reading. Thank you.

I was tend to use "intervene" but I looked at first into my dictionary to get the most correct meant term. But "intervene" was much to strong in what was meant there and so I used instead "intermeddle".

Thank you for your replay.

Said Pooh!

Sadly Puh Herr Junker is not a man who believes in the will of the people.

For example he said; When it becomes serious, you have to lie.
o Jean-Claude Juncker, 'Paris, Berlin look to shake up euro zone leadership' (31 May 2013).

And he said; There can be no democratic choice against the European treaties
o Originial quote in french: Il ne peut y avoir de choix démocratique contre les traités européens…
o Jean-Claude Juncker, 'Greece: The dangerous game' (1 February 2015), from a french newspaper Le Figaro Jean-Claude Juncker : «Pas question de supprimer la dette grecque» (28 January 2015)

Oh and one of the reasons he was booted out of his job as PM of Luxemburg by the people was that they really didn't care for the way he brought in a secret police force to keep records on the population. Yes Herr Juncker has more than a whiff of the stasi about him, or should that be geheime staats polizei officier?
