Well done Trump for standing up to north Korea and getting Kim Jong In to the negotiating table .

The previous president spent 8 years kicking the can further down the road and not grasping the nettle .

Are you so naive? North Korea has wanting for years to be taken seriously and have such a meeting. Trump has just given away all that leverage and gotten absolutely nothing in return. So naive!

That meeting will never happen.

Trump just went off field again, probably to hide some more bad news.

While I dislike both of these men for various reasons, I think kim jung un would be a right mug to give up any nukes he has now.

The only countries the US (and often Britain as well) have bombed, attacked, invaded and practically destroyed are the countries that don't have nukes and who aren't on their knees licking the yank Governments' arse.

Every single sitting US President in the last 25 years has received an invitation to negotiate nuclear weapons with NK. Every single sitting US President until Trump knew that NK was not willing to make a single meaningful concession first, so they wisely declined.

Only 22% of the world's leaders have confidence in Trump to do the right thing regarding International Affairs. Obama had a 64% rating in his 2nd term.

Whether Mr Trump has any success from his meeting with Fat Boy Slim only time will tell. But in fact the best way to achieve nothing, as Mark Twain would tell us, is to simply not try anything. If Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama could have met the NK leadership and chose not to do so, then they were wrong and Mr Trump is correct. If he fails, then it will have been tried and we will be back to invective and nuclear brinkmanship, exactly where we started; and frankly, what will we have lost?

I will wish Mr Trump good luck.

The trouble with that is that once Kim Yung Un develops a real weapon capable of reaching and attacking the continental USA, the USA will have no choice except to nuke North Korea. These are not the sort of people who will behave rationally and the threat they pose will not be manageable. I am far from convinced that Kim Yung Un is smart enough to appreciate that the point of brinkmanship is to not fall off the edge.

RE my earlier kwote about Obama being a coward which has now been kwoted multiple times .

If you're on his side you're deluded .
Like most lefties he was more interested in social engineering in his home turf than grasping the world's nasty nettles and dealing with them .

Thank gawd for Trump .
And get knotted his detractors

The US would have 'No choice' but to nuke north Korea?

That's mental.

If the US nuked North Korea, wouldn't China feel it had 'no choice' but to nuke the US?

etc.

Do you really believe the US would have 'no choice' but to start world war 3/'nukular' armagedgon in order to stop North Korea starting world war 3/'nukular' armageddon?

What, the yanks want to make up for being late for the the first 2 world wars by being early for the 3rd world war?
