Assuming that this is indeed the problem with the other browsers, the underlying issue is that people are becoming ever-more security and privacy-conscious, and websites are going to have to change the way they operate or lose users.

Companies of course want as much data as possible, far more than they need for the running of the website. Hopefully, in time we'll get more legal protection around our data. Until then people will just end up voting with their feet.

EDIT: I can confirm that removing the 'do not track' setting from Pale Moon allows me to download from 1fichier.

No clue if that's the problem, was just a thought... it was with my newsreader and anti-virus email shield, because a newsgroup binary attachment is still treated like an email attachment.

But you're absolutely right about companies being data hungry, the more the merrier, so I opt out of everything I can, give em fake name, adress etc whenever possible, cement my browsers with blockers, ghostery, noscript etc etc, and we're on VPN here

1fichier has been blocked in Italy, recently.
Members resident in Italy can still connect to blocked sites by changing DNS number.

Thanks but it only works with some internet providers as it is said in that forum. I tried anyway to change the DNS number but no luck. I remember time ago someone suggested to change the 1fichier links with a slightly different url, anyone knows which way?

I've been a subscriber at 1Fichier for several years. The first problem I had was renewing my subscription. I couldn't find a way to pay them, and couldn't remember how I paid them the year before. But it worked out eventually

These days I just get problems logging in because they don't always accept my password. I don't use VPNs or anything exotic: they know who and where I am. But I've learned with 1Fichier you sometimes have to experiment until it works

However, it's worth it, because 1Fichier is just about the best host for free downloaders. Mega.nz is the only other host I can think of that comes close

I totally agree. 1fichier is fast and Mega is fast too. Since I don't have a 1fichier account I don't know how fast it can be in uploading. Unfortunately Mega (I have an account there) is not that fast when you up your files and I found Depositfiles is much better as for this subject.
Italian users who own a Vodafone Station like me can find some vids on the tube about probs with it and solutions; I'll be testing their suggestions next days and let you know if I finally get to dl from 1fichier.

It's fast. They don't display speeds and I can't see from my browser how fast it is in kb/s but I just uploaded 1.28 GB in 15 minutes, if you want to calculate it

Tried some tips today from the most recent vids on the tube and all I can say for now is that Vodafone SR modem is a pain in the ass.
Next days I'll try again using the ethernet cable instead of the WiFi connection and see what happens.
I already tried adding the DNS number 1.1.1.1 on my mac system preferences, with and without the old DNS configuration but no luck.
