There is a slight problem with ImgBox. For some unknown reason it won't load up some images. No reason is given it simply says 'error'.

I replied back stating that I did not, so I tried uploading a 42-image pic set and all uploaded without any problem, so I'm guessing that the problem/issue has been resolved.

I just had a link from Imagebam redirect to one of those FBI Moneypak sites.
I've had it happen to me before a year ago. When it happened it came up full screen where I could not close it or go anywhere on my computer. This one was just a webpage and I was able to quickly close it. Nothing has happened since then. No popups or homepage changes or anything. I'm currently doing a virus scan. After that I'm going to run Malwarebytes. So everyone watch out for Imagebam. |

Same thing happened here. I'll have to disable JavaScript before browsing Imagebam pages.

After re-booting I also perform a Malwarebytes scan and typically it will detect and quarantine 95+ PUPs!

It is not just Imagebam, it's all over the place. See solidfiles in the help section for similar and for suggested solutions.
What worries me is if the members who use these sites do so knowing this is going to happen.

I think those PUPs make their way into your computer and can pop up anytime and anyplace, so that's why its good practice to periodically perform a virus and/or Malwarebytes scan! I find that Malwarebytes is excellent in detecting and quarantining them, which I then delete from my system!

I have been having lots of problems with the FBI Moneypak sites issue recently as well, I agree it's not just imagebam, this happened to me on both the Mac and PC. Lots of Freeware and Shareware have been paid to include programs in their installers, they are installing adware along with a legit program. The adware technically is not malware because it is not overwriting anything on your system, the adware is just bypassing your web browser and steam's ability to block pop ups by bypassing the browser's pop up blocker.
This is what happened to me, on my PC, otherwise some how the Moneypak sites are figuring out how to defeat the popup blocker on your browser. On OS X, you will have to force quit the browser and clear your cache and cookies, and restart. On the windows side, I had to manually look through all of the folders visible and hidden to remove the adware program folders, uninstalling did not help at all. This was a real pain in the ass!!! |
