The problem with Brother is with the scanning software, it's plain basic with no descreen option, no levels, no color control at all and you can't scan 3D objects because of the low depth other than that it's by far the best option because you can scan A3 but since it's CIS the color quality isn't that amazing.
I also use an Epson V33, the quality is so-so but it's better than the Brother ones since it's CCD, you have more options thanks to Epsons scanning software like levels and descreen, scanning posters is not doable because the gutters get too dark but for plain magazine scans is a good option. The best scanners were the old Epson ones that took forever to warm up. A cool trick I've discovered is that if you tilt the magazine and scan it, the moire effect isn't as noticeable so you don't have to use descreen if your scanner doesn't have it. Also check if the light is LED or Cold Cathode Lamp, you want the latter and CCD. Last edited by piripiri; September 16th, 2016 at 01:40 PM.. |

you should be able to get an Epson V700 new in the box at a reasonable price - can't say a bad word about it - maybe some limitations with film but a first rate reflective scanner and reasonable film scanner for web

I have bought three Epson products directly from them (website) as manufacturer refurbished. 1250 scanner, V600 scanner, 1430 printer. All excellent performers and bargain priced (at least in usa). I don't know if they do this in every country & not all products available at all times (it changes), but take a look for comparison.
