I believe in...
Freedom and humanity.
The problem is that most of my fellow men don't. Or at least hide it pretty well..... |

I believe , if push came to shove most would shove as hard as they could to push their fellow human over .
Fact in many cases nowadays they do so when push hasn`t even come to nudge

I believe most partnerships end in failure.
Had a boss a number of years ago who said "I wish you hadn't told me that". |

1. The inherent goodness/perfectibility of humankind.
2. The inherent evil/worthlessness of humankind. ...depending on what day it happens to be.

Mushrooms
You know, this thread makes you decide dogmatically whether you believe in something or not. But that's not really like real life. Really. In reality, (alright with the real things, already), real life (eh eh eh!) is not black and white, but a broad grey expanse. Sometimes, no...oftentimes, we believe in something that we can't really prove, so we're compromising with ourselves to choose to believe something. There's simply not that much stuff we can really believe in, except death and taxes, as they say. And therein lies the rub, like some guy said. It's all about death, innit? Because nobody knows. So we get all cooked up on some idea, but after a while, since it can't be proven, we naturally think..."yeah, but what if"...
So, there we go again, like a dog chasing a car down the street. When he catches it, he don't know what to do with it. So, we start chasing another car. So where does it all stop? When we make a decision to believe in something, because we choose to believe it. And so we live by that. The logical mind will never, ever, be satisfied in this world, true wisdom will tell us that. So, we pick the closest facsimile to that we can, and go with it. This is called "faith", believe it or not. Can't be proven, but it helps to get us by, until something better shows up. Unfortunately, we're all like mushrooms here.."keep em in the dark and feed em shit". Yeah, we're all mushrooms. |
