Well actually they used Colt Monitor Machine Rifles. This rifle had an 18 inch barrel, the Browning Automatic Rifle has a 24 inch barrel. The Colt was a clone of the Browning. Due to the shorter barrel length the Colt would be considered a carbine. A carbine is not a specific rifle but a shorter version of the original. Yea, I'm a gun nut.

I believe Clyde stole his BAR from a National Guard Armory. He cut the barrel and the stock down, then fashioned a sling.

The BAR was serious firepower. A fully automatic rifle firing 30.06, that round is no joke.

30.06 = 7.8 x 63.3mm
.308 Winchester = 7.62 x 51mm
AK 47 = 7.62 x 39mm
