Who is your High-Speed Connection Provider?
I used to have SBC now AT&T DSL - it was great 6mb connection and in the 4 years I had it, less than 24 hours total down time.
I've since moved and now have Comcast (10mb)... err... I mean Crapcast. I've been at my current address for 4 years or so and I've already exceeded 1 week of downtime... its CrapTastic let me tell you! So share your story... who to avoid and who you should pick to provide your service, provided you have any choice at all. |

I still have my SBC DSL and like it very much. I don't think that with this current hoster situation, anything in the way of a service provider would help make things faster. [We just need to keep the goverment out of our personal hobbies / passions / fantasies. ] They (DepositFiles, RapidShare, etc.) want you to buy their Premium service and I say crap on that... too many different hosters are being used to host these files.

I've been using Comcast for the last 4 or 5 years. Before that I had AT&T. So far I've been happy. The only time I was without internet was during an extended vacation from power as well, thanks to an October blizzard. AT&T was on and off, I finally had enough of it after a year and switched over.

yeah, I've had a few instances with AT&T / SBC, once when a squirrel was chewing on the phone cable and once withe a wet connection at a major junction. The wet connection caused me a lot of problem, because it degraded the voice connection. Then I compunded the problem by having the voice repair service the problem, rather than having the data repair service it. Anymore, I'd contact data repair first, because the data portion is effected more than voice.
These companies have gotten so big and have so much automation when you call them, that it takes some several experiences before you learn how to get where you want to go. |

Sir Richard Branson.Soon to be upgraded to 20 MBs for all basic users , high speed will cost extra.
Not so long since broadband first came in and 350 KBs seemed like lightning compared with the old dialup! |

I read somewhere that Virgin Media throttled users up and down speeds during regular hours and they only got the proper speeds late at night when most normal people were asleep.
