Porn in the UK before it got legal - remember?

I used to visit a porn shop in Birmingham may back in the early 1980's,and they sold the real deal books and vids from abroad.

The only place better than this shop was Amsterdam in the early 1990's,but geting the stuff back was a real roulette game with the customs people.

I went back earlier this year,but most of the vids,books etc have long gone,it's all DVD now,and not much good stuff,mostly Eastern European hard core,no stars anymore....

I do remember that after buying on several occasions I was invited into the "inner sanctum" to search through some special material as it was called then !!!

I didn't realise then that all the books and vids would become so sought after and valuable as they are now.

Why is it that I and others have such fond memeories of the porno back then ???

My taste was for big boobs and luckily I bought an awful lot of books etc with Toni Kessering,Stacey Owen and co. featured.

Now that I am somewhat older,I love to browse my collection and share it with others via the Toni Francis forum.

Thank god for the internet !!!

even mid -late 1990s i bougt a silvia saint video (irresistable sylvie)from a shop at kings cross and it was a home video tape with the film recorded on it. next time iwent past the shop a couple of months later it had closed down. the shop was across the road from the station and to the left with a red sign. not the small video shop just up from mcD....lds

Too my knowledge UK has still some serious bollocks censor laws , when it comes to porn. Since If I remember right, then having an internetsexshop is forbidden by a law that came some years back. Well I like the UK for other reasons, but when it comes to porn/sex. In certain ways. Then the UK haven´t really come out of the Victorian era yet. But peace to the UK people who understand I am not after them, in my message. But rather more after some of your weird bollocks and rubbish laws.

You're right, up to a point, Wolfman, but things aren't as bad as they were. Most types of sex are legal to sell now in the UK (see link below) but there are still some restrictions which wouldn't apply in Denmark or other equally civilised countries.

One of my first experiences of hardcore pornography was in the area around the station in Copenhagen, many years ago. It's a lot shabbier now, I think, but it was lively and fascinating then, particularly for someone like me from a repressed country like the UK. There was also a very nice little bakery directly opposite the station selling the most amazing Danish pastries! The ones we get here in the UK are rubbish - much like the porn mags really.

Broxyman: the street you are talking about is Istedgade, and the area area is called Vesterbro, I was raised there, from I was 0 till I was 7 years old. It is my childhood neighbourhood, and back then it was the safest place .

I lived in one of the side streets in the more "pretty" part of the Vesterbro area. But still Istedgade nowadays are becoming very crime infested, and where I live now. Is just as crime infested, the difference is this, there are far less cops here. Than there are in the Vesterbro area.
And well, the number I use after my nickname is my year of birth. And still I call that area of Copenhagen "my city". Because I still have some very fond memories of better days .

Sorry to hear that - it was a wonderful city, and a great area too (even though the main attraction was the cosy little porn shops). The porn shops in London were nasty seedy places at the time, but the Copenhagen ones were great, staffed by nice people too.
