basically it says it could take 6 months to come into force, be a year until people get their first strikes and maybe 2 years until people see any suspensions.

When a law has passed, it has to be published. This will take max. a month. If there is no other date given (transitional periode) it's in force.

There's no time to leave, if the English are planing some resitance against it. This will need some time too.

VPN is a Virtual Private Network - basically it creates a tunnel between you and another server/computer through which you download the server you are connected to is the IP the copyright police will see not yours - try to get one based in a country that is not your own and read there user/privacy agreements to be sure you will be fairly protected if they try to get your ip another idea is to pay with a prepaid credit card so that you don't leave a paper trail or give them you're main card details just to be safe

Oh yeah and the tunnel is encrypted as well so they can't see what you're downloading! but VPN's do drop out from time to time and the speeds are usually a little slower but they do considerably decrease the risk of getting caught out

I might use one but as nothing is going to happen for at least 6 months, that is the time it will take to finalise everything with isps etc, i am not in a rush. Right now i will continue to do what i do.

There are ready made packages if you connect to the Tor network. I have used it for years.

"Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis."
From: https://www.torproject.org/

If you choose a VPN solution or Tor, your connection is only encrypted up until the last router before the regular http web page you access. The last router has to make a clear text GET request to that server. However that will only contain the IP of said router, and not the IP that you are surfing from.

/trm
