Display Case
Ordered this Glass Display Case today , after a few weeks of the Repulse Model being completed , when I should have got my act together , and got it ordered immediately .( lesson Leaned )
The photo is from the website of the English Company that specialise in making these - so will look fairly similar to this . It will be made of Pine Colour Wood , and have a Cream Coloured Material Baize at the bottom - one thing I have learned , in Scotland , its often not that bright or sunny ( today being rainy and miserable ) so a light wood colour is better to look at than a darker wood . Also a darker baize bottom is not that great an idea , often unless the Model is at eye level . The Display Case cost me £ 250 , its being made to measure , and will get delivered by car by the actual guy that makes it , so it can't get damaged in the post . When it arrives , I will post a photo of the Repulse inside the Case. Thankfully , there is no sign of dust on the Trumpeter Model , but I had better get it under cover sooner rather than later ( dust on models is a nightmare to clean off ) and in closing , I hope when Agency work allows me time , to start on the HMS Prince of Wales Model in 1/350 Scale with Pontos Super-Detail set I have been so busy lately ,working ! |

Was really into model kits when I was younger, one of my best christmas presents ever was a Testors model caddy with the various paints, brushes, glue, etc in it
Made a lot of kits throughout that time and definitely improved from banging together those Airfix plane kits in the plastic bags on a Saturday afternoon listening to the football (AFL) on the radio to building model cars using aftermarket extras to make them more realistic I even remember being able to buy model gun and grenade kits which despite their obvious weight difference to the real thing did look very life like |

The Atomic Cannon, which I think was made by Monogram.

For those who haven't heard, model companies Very Fire and Joy-Yard are both coming out with 1/350 scale plastic USS Montana BB-67 battleship models. Though Very Fire's version seems to be closest to completion and releasing sometime possibly in September from what I've heard. Note - this ship is the ' Tier 10 ' Battleship of World of Warships so this has certainly increased potential sales - and coverage worldwide I do know that several Modellers have placed pre-orders for the Montana by Very Fire ( Chinese Company ) Here are links/pics of the 1/350 Montana hull The Montana from Very Fire I'm guessing is probably an upscaling of their previous 1/700 scale Montana kit. As far as price, it could be about the same or slightly higher as their 1/350 Missouri kit, which is about $200+/-. Heard that there were delays with the Joy-Yard Montana kit, but do not have details on why this is at the moment. Why 2 Rival Chinese Companies have gone head to head over a ' What If ' Ship ( the ships were ordered but never laid down due to WW2 demands for Amphibious Vessels and Carriers for the US Navy . Note 1/700 Montana is already made by Very Fire ( first time ever in plastic injection ) |
