As Trump's domestic problems threaten his presidency, I wonder what is the chance that he will tactically nuke the North Korean capital and their missile base? Probably a naval yard or two as well.

How long would the leaderless North Koreans fight until they surrender?

As there are now troops on the British streets, does anyone (like Rupert) have any idea what their brief might be, whether they will have been issued with ammunition and are able to use lethal force - presumably only under police authority?

I am not Rupert but I can not fathom putting active duty military on the streets with out ammo, even in the UK. They get rules of engagement and while a few might violate them if they come to light there will be court martial.

I agree with those who say a nuclear war between any of the major powers would have no winners. The acronym for Mutually assured destruction - MAD - seems accurate.

I would prefer I get to see the end of Game of Thrones - in around 2 and a half years before the world goes up in nuclear flames. According to the bulk of the press, Trump seems sometimes determined that I don't get to see the end of the series.

Maybe you should've thought about it a bit more before you voted for him to have the nuclear codes, I remember you previously totally dismissing any dangers, bit late now isn't it?

Why were there six people in a Nissan Micra. I know the Lorry Driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and released under investigation, but the person who really caused this is the micra driver who lets five other people get in his car. If he weren't dead he should be charged.

Is it a cultural thing? or simply a common sense thing. (Lack of) I'd like to say RIP but you all put yourselves in harms way.

The rules of engagement are similar to those issued in Northern Ireland during the troubles. Working directly under Police supervision, clear and concise warnings must be given, three, either Armed Soldiers, Halt or I fire or British Army Halt or I fire, the exception being immediate risk, a complex issue, but basically if the soldier feels that there is an immediate risk to either themselves, the public or the building they are protecting, they may fire without warning.

They are all carrying SA80/ L85A2, in latest variants, they carry 5.56 ammunition, and they are all carrying full magazines.

This is a double tragedy in my eyes, I feel it very sad that British Soldiers are deployed in the streets of our major cities. I do understand it. The other side is that should rounds be fired, the press will no doubt launch a full scale attack on the Army. The soldier involved will face, an immediate inquiry, (special Investigations Branch RMP), the civilian authorities will do the same, then an inquest, at which the soldier is liable to face prosecution should the jury decide that the reaction was wrong, but put yourself in their boots, this person may be about to kill, maim and injure thousands, fire or not?

Fire but I doubt that these vermin are stupid enough to try anything until everything has calmed down and the troops are back in barracks.
