Playing Full DVD's in VLC Player

Hi all, my question is..when I play a full DVD in VLC Player, it starts out with a random scene and doesn't begin from the menu. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?. Cheers for the help

You have not given a comprehensive description but - assuming you use Windows - open up the drive with the DVD in it under Explorer (usually D) so that you can see all of the folders and files. Then highlight the _1 VOB file in the VIDEO_TS folder (e.g. VTS_01_1.VOB) and assign that to VLC for playing. That will normally be the first file in the movie and VLC should automatically continue to play though the succeeding files so that you can view the entire film from the beginning.

Hi

Sounds to me like you could have accidentally hit the 'random' button on the player control panel.

For me it is the one on the right of the interface and looks like two arrows that have intertwined.

Hover over it and it should confirm what the action of the button is to make sure. Try hitting that again and see what happens.

I did it once and it drove me crazy for hours till I had a moment of clarity!
