Virus attack
Last year I had a serious virus attack. The one with the UK coppers face and helmet leading some to believe it was the Metropolitan Police blocking your hard drive.
A friend ran a recovery programme and restored most of my "interesting stuff" However, I permanently lost almost all of my collection of "Beth Morggan" which I built up after a few memberships of her site before she retired. Finding her stuff now, apart from TAC Amateurs, is pretty hard going. I have rebuilt some of what I had downloaded prior to the virus attack, but, there is quite a lot that I would like to get back. Has anyone got a collection of Beth Morggan and would be willing to begin a thread of this gorgeous mature lady? |

Another way to get rid of 'ransomware' is to turn off your computer, then as the logo appears keeping pressing the F8 button until it bleeps then start in Safe Mode(follow the on-screen instructions). It should offer you the chance to 'roll' back your computer or System Restore and all you do is select a date when your computer was working properly and it will restore it for you. It should get rid of the ransomware as well. I did this for my father several times and it does work. It is then advisable to set your computer to do a full system scan so it can find or clear out anything else that might be lurking. A good anti-malware program or spyware one should be run as well.

With regards to ransomware I discovered that after 7 days its like its not there anymore. I just use the guest account on the pc if mine gets locked by these con artists. I routinely run with AVG and that clears the nasty out on the first run after 7 days. Hasn't happened for some months, presumably my anti virus kit and firewall is made of sterner stuff nowadays.

Couple old school rules for consideration, because these threats are nothing new,
they are just scripted differently now days. (Webcam data, etc.) Never keep your data on your main OS drive. (Your system, basically) ...and sorry for the loss of your beloved Beth files. Hope you find it all. As system restore usually works for most, I haven't used it in at least 15 years on any of my systems. Anyone remember the Y2K situation? Malicious scripts can be execution dated years back. So in the even of a pre-dated threat, you're S.O.L. Safe mode, or any level of sys restore useless in that case. Before I used Acronis to make a clean image of any system, I used Symantec Ghost to take a full snapshot of the primary ( C ) partition. I keep Acronis .TIB backups on an external drive with the boot disk always nearby. This is easy to use, and if you're going to maintain any computer, worth the cost. That said, I haven't had any file such as images or video on the C drive in years. It's just asking to be lost. I love the new SATA external drives, for all data storage. Tech files on one, got a VEF drive, a music drive, movie drive. The cost and physical size has really come down while the storage has gone up. ...and as our friend buttsie states, there is never one all encompassing AV scan solution out there that does everything. While having various AV software is nice, going back to a clean image really does the trick for me. Just my peace of mind. I used to remove virii from client systems the old school way from the registry, and do not miss that at all! Now when I build a system, I take that snapshot with Acronis first thing. When they come to me with issues, just re-image them back to happiness. Final note, when preparing the clean system for imaging, always make sure that a browser is installed, with a bookmark to VEF, if you don't use a bookmark manager which stores browser data. |

I am bollocksed !
I have been informed that Beth Morggan is in the Modern Models section. Well, when I search the alphabetical drop down menu she is NOT there. So, where the sodding hell is her thread, other than in the Help Section, where quite honestly it needs moving from. |
