Default Post editing problem

Edited a post yesterday without any probems, like normal. The went back about 30 mins later to make another addition, clicked edit, and was greeted with a blank preview box. Immediately aborted and tried again. Same result. Switched editors, went Advanced, same blank box. Weird thing is, it doesn't happen with any of my other posts. Only this one. Any idea why?

Just tried using the advanced text editor and it works for me. Switch off WYSIWYG and try it again as it may have been a server caching issue at the time.

Good news: Turned off WYSIWYG and editing works with Basic and Standard.

Bad news: Turning WYSIWYG back on, I still get the blank box.

Guess I'll keep WYSIWYG off.

Thx for the suggestion Jenny.

Yeah, the WYSIWYG editor in this version of VB is buggy. Hopefully if we upgrade someday we won't have this problem anymore because V4 and up have been fixed.

Default Blank Post Preview Screen & Unable To Edit

Hi, I've just created the post below in the Fiesta magazine thread.
http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...&postcount=443
I need to edit it but I have a similar problem in that the preview screen goes completely blank. I initially had the same problem creating the post as using the preview button resulted in the screen going blank. I followed the advice in the posts above and turned the WYSIWYG off which initially partially worked to create the post but now has no effect when I try to edit it. Does anyone have any further thoughts or ideas please? Regards Mariposa60

I found an easy way to do this. It depends on how you like to edit - with the pics visible or the code visible.

This button here:

...changes the view of the edited post back and forth from pics to code. When you are done editing and want to preview, always set it to the code view first, then preview it. Using the pic view will return the blank box.

Default WYSIWYG hates unusual characters

Hi there Mariposa60!

It's the same issue caused by WYSIWYG, you have to turn it to at least the Standard Editor in your Control Panel - Edit Options in order for the post to become visible when editing. Remember to click "Save Changes" at the bottom for it to take affect.

Another trick is to simply left mouse click hold & copy the post, including pics, then edit & paste in so you can see it.

The cause is always unusual characters, WYSIWYG just hates them, in this case it's your apostrophe choice in the two occurrences of:

Readers’ Wives

If you use the one under @ instead it will work just fine in WYSIWYG mode:

Readers' Wives

For instance just having that apostrophe in this post causes the same blank issue.

Hope this is of help!

Default Blank Post Preview Screen & Unable To Edit

Thanks very much Immy & PoloMint Guy for your really helpul comments. I know the toggle button that you mention does work sometimes Immy as I had success with it the first time I tried it but on subsequent occasions all it did was to change the blank screeen between white and grey!

PoloMintGuy I took your advice and copied the whole post back into the edit preview and that allowed me to work on it. Once I'd deleted the two dodgy apostrophes it all miraculously stayed put when I went back to edit again.

I'll not never try posting wiv proppa grammer anymore!

Cheers chaps!

Yeah, apostrophes have always been a problem from time to time with this version of vB too.
