I use DVDFab free version.
http://www.dvdfab.cn/download.htm https://www.youtube.com/user/dvdfabtutorial Most functions of the full version are disabled, but you can rip even copy-protected DVDs or blu-rays with the free version. Just click on "Try" when you see the welcome screen below: You can rip the full disc or just the main movie. Click on the icon at upper left and choose "Full Disc" or "Main Movie". Pick a place to save the folder, or choose "Save as ISO image file" to create an .iso that you can burn directly to disc. My copy now says "Trial version expired" but it will still copy discs and works great. Edit: Forgot to mention, it's a good idea to update the program frequently, especially if you rip any new DVDs or new blu-ray discs. Copy protection (designed to discourage copying commercial discs) keeps evolving and the software is frequently updated to deal with the latest copy protection.

Thanks Denaniel, great program.
I have used it and it gave me an extra 1gb of extra file than other programs. The quality of the file was the same as other programs I have used so I am happy with my encodes..i.e for the file size. Great program for the tool box, a must have.

I'm guessing that you are referring to the encoding function of DVDFab, which will convert the full DVD or blu-ray to a smaller (compressed) file. Otherwise, when ripping a DVD or blu-ray disc without compression, DVDFab should give you the same file size as any other software ripper.

Dear Contributors,
By far the best ripper I've used is Imgburn. I think BluRay encodes in 1080p, so you wont really see the benefit of BR unless you have a graphics card and processor that can handle it easily. A guide to ripping BRs with Imgburn is here for your ref: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/...using-imgburn/ Kind Regards NB |

But it is not a ripping program. BTW, I added a note in post #4 about updating DVDFab frequently (see bottom of post).
