The German team manager Oliver Bierhoff believes that Mesut Ozil wil develop as a player following his move to Arsenal. The 24-year-old sealed a €50 million deadline day move to the Emirates from Real Madrid after falling down the Santiago Bernabeu pecking order. While the legendary striker acknowledges that the former Werder Bremen star has moved to a less glamorous club, he feels the switch will prove invaluable with the 2014 World Cup looming. "I'm happy for Mesut that he has found a great club, even when Arsenal might be not as shiny as Real is. He will develop there and take more responsibilities," he said at a press conference. "It's an important step for him, especially in a World Cup year. In today's football world, everything moves fast. When a new coach arrives, a lot of things change. "This is no drama, it's usual business. If such a club as Arsenal and such a coach as Arsene Wenger want you, no matter what, it gives you a confidence boost." Ozil is set to make his debut for Arsenal against Sunderland following an international break which should see him feature against Austria and Faroe Islands. Best regards ULI1234

The 24-year-old decided to move on from Real Madrid after the Spanish giants completed the world-record €100m signing of Gareth Bale from Tottenham, with competition for places at the Bernabeu increasingly intense. And while the Gunners have gone without a trophy for over eight years, the Germany international is confident he can lead the charge for silverware to repay some of the club's record outlay for his signature. "I chose Arsenal because they are one of the top clubs in England. [Wenger] is a world-class manager - he’s demonstrated that for years," he told the club's official website. "A lot of players have developed under his guidance in the past and that’s why I decided to join Arsenal. I want to improve myself further and I’m looking forward to the style of play. "The most important thing is that the manager has given me his trust. I want to show my potential and have fun on the pitch. I think that I can help the team through my performances. "I spoke to the manager a lot on the phone and he presented his vision and what he thinks about me. That convinced me and that’s why I am now at Arsenal." Despite the lack of titles in the recent past, Ozil believes the club still have serious ambition, and feels that his style will suit the Emirates and help to make the club a success again. "Arsenal are well known for the strength of their technical game and their desire to play attacking football," he continued. "I think I will fit perfectly into that. That’s why I chose to sign for the club. "In the last few years, Arsenal haven’t been so successful but we want to become more successful. We want to win trophies. I think the fans are looking forward to that too. "We have a very strong and a very young team that can improve a lot under the manager. I think we will win trophies because we have the potential [to do so]. I’m so happy to be playing at Arsenal. I’m honoured by it." Real Madrid stars including Alvaro Arbeloa and Sami Khedira have expressed their surprise at Ozil moving to the Premier League, with Sergio Ramos stating he would not have allowed the deal to go through. Germany - Austria 3:0 Location: Allianz Arena Munich 69000 Spectators Mesut Ozil believes Germany "showed who's boss" with their 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over Austria on Friday. Goals from Miroslav Klose, Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller sealed a comfortable win for Joachim Low's side and moved them to within touching distance of Brazil 2014. New Arsenal signing Ozil was thrilled to secure three points - and bragging rights - against their neighbours. "We're delighted with the result. We scored three goals and didn't allow anything against us. We can be proud," he said after the match. "Austria teased us prior to the game, but out on the pitch, we showed them who's boss..." Captain Philipp Lahm was thrilled to claim maximum points against a side still vying for a qualification spot themselves, but warned his team-mates to maintain their efforts against Faroe Islands next week. "It's great to win against the [then] group runners-up. We allowed little in behind and also played some very creative football going forward to score the goals. We've done well this week, but we have to keep working hard..." Lahm added. Thomas Muller sealed the win with a late strike after setting up Klose's early goal which drew him level with Gerd Muller on the Germany all-time scorers' list with 68 goals. The Bayern Munich star admitted he was delighted to contribute to the result. "It feels very good. It's nice to have made two goals. We would all have taken 3-0 before the game. We must now continue to play consistently," said Muller. Germany sit five points clear of Sweden at the top of Group C after Friday's round of fixtures. Best regards ULI1234
