Apart from the usual child songs and chants I would say the first actual song was a pop song called Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep by Middle of the Road and that bloody song was to haunt me for many years-I hated it then and I still hate it now.

I was told about ten years back by my now late mother that I would sing Dylan's Positively Fourth Street endlessly just to settle down (I was four or five I think). I sort of remember the couch of the old house and me listening to it when I hear that song on the radio. Good memory of the song and my mom now.

In the late '70s, (I was born 1976 and turned four in 1980), my parents at their old townhouse played Neil Diamond and Billy Joel. I didn't even know of Led Zeppelin and The Beatles until much later.

Then there is a certain song about how "You can do magic... You know damn well when you cast your spell..." The lyrics are "darn well" in the censored version.
