Recomended File Hosts

Hi,

I've been asked if I would re-upload some of my videos to the Umma thread.

In the past, I've used 1fichier, but I am now thinking of using MediaFire (as they seem a bit more flexible in terms of deleting files after 30 days).

Would anyone else recommend MediaFire, or any similar alternatives?

Mediafire dont seem as bad as they were 2012-2013
when 1 dmca notice = account closed

Just dont use any porn terms in the titles

I use mediafire for files up to 200mb because content is never deleted for being inactive
You only need sign in once every 3 months to keep the account active
If you dont they close the account

Recently put a few on Mega.nz which gives free users premium download speeds while theres bandwidth available

over 200mb - deposit files - 90 days from last download before deletion
you can download your own files - only need to start it then cancel
resets for another 90 days

uptobox gives you 90 days retention for free accounts also and they also run happy hours usually overnight EDT.

At the moment I get around 700-800 KiB/s at filefactory as a free user. Can somebody confirm this and if yes wouldn't it be a candidate again for a prefered file host or maybe at the watch list?

Not unless this is sustained for a while because in the past they improved and then suddenly went back to "sucking big time" (sorry for the language by the way) for everyone who is a free downloader. I don't want to put it on the list again, only to pull it in a couple of months and piss off anyone using it as a primary host again if I can help it.

I hope you understand where I'm coming from and thanks for the heads up.

I got 200/250k earlier today. Not that bad really.
It may depend on the time of day and their server load?

I will be perfectly honest with you from a technical point of view considering what the entire world is currently experiencing due to this virus outbreak.

The net itself has been on the brink of breaking down altogether for some time now due to most companies just taking profits without building out the backbones that they own which are the underlying infrastructure of the entire net.

With all of the added stress that is being added to the entire infrastructure on the entire net at this time with people working from home, streaming more content because they're stuck at home or any other use of the net that you can imagine, It will be difficult to really assess how any filehost is actually doing as far as speed for free users.

As an example, not to make anyone envious of my situation, I happen to have an ISP that owns a backbone that had been upgraded for more capacity before this and they are currently adding as much capacity as they can because of the current situation so my net access is perfectly fine no matter what time of day it is. However, I have had staff tell me that they can't even do basic moderating functions here at certain times of the day because they are on a totally different ISP and backbone routing than I am. I'm not trying to be stubborn or biased, but in this current environment this is not the time to assess the performance of any filehost regardless of which host it happens to be.

If you receive a message stating that you have exceeded the hourly download limit for free users, you will need to wait until the limit has been removed.

Free / anonymous users are able to download one file every 180 minutes.

I'm not sure what you mean by "flexible in terms of deleting files?"

Are you aware that you can set files that have not been downloaded to be deleted after 30 days automatically?

Maybe you are using a free account? If you do I suggest upgrading to a premium if you do much uploading. I find a year premium account around 15-20 euros per year to be acceptable for 2TB of cold storage and unlimited hot storage.

As a frequent uploader, it's a blessing not to have to deal with dead links all the time. And as far as I know, 1fichier don't delete files until you pass the threshold of 2TB of cold storage for a premium account, or 1TB for an "access.

I need to rethink my earlier post.
Several members are using this host, which seems at best, now intermittent.
Depending on the time of day it can go down from 200k to 80k as you
are dowloading, and more often than not, you now get bombed out due to
"server overload" when you click the dowload link.
