Question Automatically parse links in text

I have a question about the 'Automatically parse links in text' option when posting to the forum. When posting new photos, videoclips, or whatever else one posts, there's the 'reply to thread' section. Underneath that section, there is the 'additional options' section. In the 'additional options' section, there is a 'miscellaneous options' section. Here there are two options to either check or leave unchecked. I understand the 'disable smilies in text' option, but I am wondering what 'Automatically parse links in text' means. I always check this option when posting. It is better to check this option or leave it unchecked when posting?

If it's checked then the link is live meaning clickable, click on it and it will go to that address.

If you uncheck it then the link will just show up as text.

depends what you prefer with the hyperlinks you post. imho best is to go with the default setting (links will be parsed). it just means that you gain a clickable hyperlink instead of a text-only version, as Inglorious already tried to explain.

exception is if you just post links to publishers only (f.e. sites with promo galleries) - in this case it makes much sense to avoid parsing, instead you force people to visit a website "manually" and the visited website isn't able to detect VEF as referring website (alternatives for this is using anonym.to, code-tag or noparse-tag).
