Another gem from the pre mini skirt era was the lovely, Gail Johnson aka Estelle MacDonald. What form ! Very statuesque with amazing hips and, in the best bra/pants combo I've ever seen. The whole of her set is very nice as she strips of the layers, alfresco. Nick

Just to go back to the hands for a moment. I'm amazed that some people can’t see it. It's so obvious when you look at those pics I posted. It's only in the eye of the beholder because it was in the eye of the photographers who took the pictures. Perhaps it was a private joke among the photographers which escaped the notice of most viewers.

The doubters would have us believe that in the one of Susan Douglas, where she is holding a stick sticking up between two balls, the position of the two balls and the cue and her hand was just the result of chance! That's impossible. It's obvious that the photographer has set it up for anyone observant enough to notice it to enjoy. The same goes for all the other photos I posted. The only doubt is whether the girls realised what the photographer was up to. It looks to me as if some of them did, and found it amusing.

I was also looking at these pictures for years before I spotted this, but once I twigged it I realised that the photographers sometimes arranged things so that the girls' use of props was in keeping with the purpose of the photos.

Here are some more which show this phenomenon, and I am reposting the Susan Douglas one because no one could possibly fail to see what the photographer was up to in that one.

I was hoping others would enjoy this and post their own, but if no one else can even see it . . . never mind. I’ll shut up about it and continue to enjoy all the great pics posted here.

The subject of modelling poses seems quite complex with subtle undertones. A common theme throughout Ken Howard's work is symmetry. Very nice it is too. Nick

Got to say, Trouser, the SD pic with the snooker cue and two balls is pretty persuasive! I think that for this, the photographer was having a bit of private fun. Ms D (and the editor!) almost certainly had no idea what he was up to!

Nice clothes to soak. Prefer faces to smile at the camera but the lady is busy taking off her wet shoes. Her wet stockings gleam. She wears her gloves in the shower - as you do !

The pics in this selection cover a few topics that have been raised and discussed in previous postings. The pic of Nicola and Marie has never been posted here and, I think it represents Ken Howard's more suggestive approach that he used occasionally. Toni Townsend is in tights, (I think it might have been a little chilly when Toni's pic was taken!). Lois Seeds is displaying the most amazing pubic shadow I have ever seen in S&S. Liz McEwen looks lovely in a white bra and pants combo. Currently researching to name Lipstick Girl. Nick

The girl in the picture is Andrea Kay. She featured in S&S from about 1973 until the end of publication in 1976. Assignments included both indoor and alfresco sets in various poses and attire (including stockings etc). Interestingly, this pose is very similar to the one held by Toni Townsend in one of my previous postings. Makes one wonder if it were the same photographer. A rather nice girl and, slightly more busty than many of the other models featured in S&S at the time. Nick
