Arrow Noel Neill

Born: November 25, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

IMDb Entry

What???? No Noel Neill????? Say that 5 times fast. The original Lois Lane on tv. Well, not exactly. Phyllis Coates was on the first tv season. But, Noel Neill played her in the 1948 and 1950 serials.
Interesting....don't know if I believe this part or not, but according to Wikipedia ....Noel was a popular photographic model. While Betty Grable's pin-up was #1 among GIs during World War II, Noel Neill ranked next.[1] Noel also worked as a professional singer and dancer, signed up by Bing Crosby.

I can believe the singer and dancer part, but the next most popular photographic model???Not that she wasn't cute enough....just never seen that much cheesecake of her....

Born in 1920, passed away in 2016.

Love that last photo!

Noel is still very active, doing several autograph shows a year all over the country.

I suspect Berigan's last photo's was taken during one of George Reeves' "cocktail hours" after an "Adventures of Superman" filming session.

I like the fact she didn't cut her hair simply because she was older!

I must be getting old...I started this thread since I couldn't find one to put a clip from Superman up, and after looking for some photos...forgot about the clip!
Anyway, about as sexy as you could ever hope for on 50's tv.

Today (November 25th) is Miss Neill's 90th birthday. Earlier this year she fell and broke her hip. She is doing better, but she reportedly has retired from making personal appearances.

I never saw any cheesecake photos of Noel until the last five years or so. Noel did some B movie work before the Superman serials came along. Noel was signed on for season two of The Adventures of Superman when Phyllis Coates (who played Lois in season one) was unavailable, and remained with the series until the end.

Noel was one of the first of the 1950's TV performers to do college tours in the 1970's. Noel also had cameo roles in Superman the Movie and Superman Returns.

Default The Adventures of Superman

Noel Neill began her role as Lois Lane in the second season of The Adventures of Superman TV serial. All 6 seasons are now available on DVD. In one of the season 2 episodes, Lois speaks her most inane line: "Clark, if we could only get that $10 raise, I could buy a new hat." No matter, in episode 12 ("Panic in the Sky"), Noel and Jack Larson provide a running commentary - many years later - recorded over the soundtrack. At a moment when George Reeves appears most handsome and heroic as the flying Superman, Noel sighs "Ooohh George." Those two words speak volumes, and nothing more need be said.

If someone with 20-20 foresight could have convinced George Reeves that his role as Superman would turn out to be more important than anything he might possibly do as a character actor in the movies, then he might not have taken his own life.

There was a nasty element at work in the 1950s who tried to convince parents that fantasies like Superman were bad for little girls and little boys like me. The commies were at it, you see, trying to pervert the brains of the next American generation. This even went so far that, when George Reeves died, we children were taunted with "see, Superman is dead!" It makes me wish there was such a thing as hell, that those people might rot in it.
